Overview
About Me
My name is Noah Spickelmier, and I am a science journalist working on a radio/ podcast project in partnership with KUAC, in Fairbanks. I am currently traveling Alaska with my co-host and girlfriend. We bought a '91 Toyota Landcruiser off of Facebook Marketplace to road trip with. We are into surfing, hiking, biking, and just about anything outdoors. I studied Food Science at UC Davis in Davis, California, and I have a passion for food and agriculture. I am an avid film photographer and try to film my adventures with a camcorder as much as possible. I enjoy speaking with people and have a desire to experience ways of life much different from my upbringing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am couch surfing because my most enriching travel experiences have been when I have stayed with a local. An example is when I visited a college friend in his hometown of Sofia, Bulgaria. I ate dinner with him and his grandparents. My friend translated for his grandparents and we talked all throughout the evening and night. I learned a lot about their family's experience in Soviet-controlled Eastern Europe and my time with them stands as one of my favorite moments traveling.
