About Me

Hi! My name is Noé. I played competitive soccer for eight years, and have a deep love of reading. I grew up in Brooklyn, NYC and attended Midwood High School at Brooklyn College. I was a captain of the varsity soccer team, and completed a study which was entered into NYCSEF, a city wide STEM competition.
Last May I graduated from St. John's College in Annapolis, MD. It is a small liberal arts school whose curriculum is entirely centered around the great books. It's also a school with a lot of school pride when it comes to playing croquet. It is an odd thing to have such a drive for, but that's the college. I played on the croquet team for two years, winningCroquet Day twice (the most attended Croquet event in the world which sees St. John's duke it out against the Naval Academy over five games in a single afternoon).
Since graduating I have spent some time as aYard Guy at a rental company who deals in industrial equipment. I wanted something completely different from the education I received, and spent six months working with machines. It was a lot of fun, but decided to return to NYC after six months.
Since my return I have been doing some traveling. I visited Rhode Island for the first time, flew over the Rockies on my way to Santa Fe, and visited North Carolina for some high level six wicket croquet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For my next adventure, I am biking from St. Augustine to Miami. have no relatives, or close friends in the state, so this is why I am seeking out the couchsurfing community for aid. I'll be going through the towns and cities on the atlantic side, and would be grateful for a helping hand along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books

I loved the beatles growing up. The first full album I remember playing over and over again was the 1 album where each track was a number one hit. I also love listening to alternative rock, cuban/latin jazz, and Dead South.

Favorite movie? I don't think I have one. I have favorite genres though : Crime -- Goodfellas, Godfather I, II, Casino, Un Profete; Westerns--once upon a time in the west, GBU, Pale Rider, For a few Dollars More.

I love books. My recent favorite is the First Man in Rome-- Absolutely excellent, but I'm a sucker for Historical Fiction.
All time favorites-- The Sound and the Fury (Faulkner), War and Peace (Tolstoy), Middlemarch (Eliot), Brothers Karamazov (Dostoevsky), Blood Meridian (McCarthy).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It might be something only I feel, but maybe you do too. I am the most boring person I know. Maybe this speaks to my character, but whatever. I was able to partake in the Yankees parade when they last won the world series -- I was part of my school's marching band which was invited to play. Beyonce and Jay-z Were in the float right behind us.
I recently hiked to a natural hot spring in New Mexico. It was so beautiful. Ten mile total were walked, but it was so worth it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my time, humor, and kindness. I am a friendly person, with a giving disposition, and enjoy talking to new people. I can share my experiences, what I have garnered from the books I have read, and hopefully a cold brew.
