This September I quit my job to travel around Australia and New Zealand. It has been an awesome experience and refreshing break from NYC!

I have lived in NYC for the past 14 years but was born and raised in South Texas. I'm an easy going person and have traveled all over the world from South America to Asia to Europe and throughout a lot of the US.

I enjoy new adventures, and I love meeting people and learning their cultures. I especially enjoy sharing meals with locals.

While living in Ecuador, I took several weekend trips by local bus (Chiva). I was coming back from Montanita, a little surf village, and the bus broke down on this small road. Everyone had to hitch rides where they could find space. I ended up in the back of a fruit truck with about 20 other people a dog and 2 cocks. There was only standing room in the back of this pick up/fruit truck just us and the jungle around us. All I could do was laugh all of the way to the next stop where we caught another bus. What an experience to go through this jungle standing in the back of a wooden fruit truck with the stars and sky around!

Couchsurfing is great for meeting new friends and experiencing local life while traveling. It gives me the freedom and affordability to travel while being unemployed to which I am very thankful for the CSC.
