About Me

CURRENT MISSION

After helping in various capacities on a number of documentary projects, I've stepped out there to produce some stories that I believe need to be told. Currently working on a film about Juanita Brazier who owned one of the first gay bars in Nashville, Tennessee.

ABOUT ME

Me? Easy-going gypsy. Fascinated with the diversity of humankind. Passionate about coffee and politics. Doggedly optimistic, I have an innate determination for defying odds...partly because I get off on the challenge but equally because I like to show others that it can be done and maybe, just maybe, help to give them a little bit of courage to stand up and slay their own dragons.

PHILOSOPHY

Non-theistic. I have found that following the whole 'do unto others...' credo keeps my karma clean and makes life a bit more pleasant. I've also found a great deal of truth in a particular Hindu proverb:
'Help thy brother's boat across, and
Lo! Thine own has reached the shore.'

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I thoroughly enjoy engaging with cool and groovy hosts as I travel around the country. I'm currently based in Orlando and though I'm presently unable to host, I'm always down to show visitors what Otown life is like beyond the Disney experience.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couchsurfed back and forth across and around the country. My travels are consistently enriched by the people and hosts I've met along my journey.

Interests

Music fanatic---love love love being turned on to great new artists and tunes.
Anglophile---looking forward to a jaunt across the pond to the mother country in the not-so-distant future.
Docu-junkie---feeds my fascination with we humans and the things we do.

Music, Movies, and Books

Pretty eclectic tastes all around. Usually prefer comedy to drama. I have difficulty committing the time to watch a movie however I love to binge-watch a whole season of any TV show I'm into at a given moment...therefore I haven't seen most of the really obvious movies but I can tell you just about anything regarding any sitcom on Hulu or Netflix.
As for music, anything goes --- have a special affinity for Peter Gabriel, Arcade Fire, OMD, The Chainsmokers, Sarah Brightman, Cold War Kids and Simple Minds. My current musical obsession is the band VHS Collection. Favorite live music moments of recent years: Paul McCartney literally ON Hollywood Boulevard for a Jimmy Kimmel episode, TV on the Radio at the the Fox Theatre in Oakland, and M83 at Bonnaroo 2016.
My go-to reading recommendations include Garth Stein's The Art of Racing in the Rain and Salman Rushdie's Fury.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been ridiculously fortunate in getting to experience all kinds of cool and unexpected moments in life. Tops on the list---Getting to watch a rocket launch at Kennedy Space Center with Buzz Aldrin and the living members of the Astronaut Hall of Fame, and meeting civil rights legend Minniejean Brown of the Little Rock Nine by complete happenstance following a tour of Central High School.

Teach, Learn, Share

One of my favorite parts of life is learning new skills and broadening my understanding. I'm a strong believer in our evolutionary tendencies to learn through observation and imitation and therefore tend to be a human sponge---I just sort of absorb information from others and I'm always more than happy to share any of the knowledge I have gleaned from life thus far. I can show you how to make killer quesadillas, wire a ceiling fan, start a business, understand the differences between their-they're-and-there, steam a perfect cappuccino, produce a play, build some furniture, sew a garment...or any of the other random and not-so-random things I've picked up along the way.
