CURRENT MISSION

I'm writing a novel. My mission is to experience as much in the way of real-life as possible prior to returning to graduate school.

ABOUT ME

I am crazy about literature, language, stories, and people. I majored in Creative Writing. When I'm not writing fiction, poetry, or humorously gutting a music video on my blog, I'm talking to people. One of my favorite things about life is encountering creative people, and discussing their artistic process with them. I like to celebrate that through assisting budding artists and musicians with biographies and publicity :) I, myself, am most gifted in the area of writing - and therefore I'm fascinated with people who are gifted musically, theatrically, artistically, etc. I really enjoy dancing, live music, carnivals, nature, thrift stores, and pizza--, and of course - getting quiet in my soulparts and writing. Occasionally I have been known to get down with stupid reality TV programs like The Two Coreys, Rock of Love & Janice Dickinson, for the simple fact that nothing on TV compares in the vein of needless drama. Also. David Bowie. Above all things, David Bowie.

PHILOSOPHY

Every place you go, every place you work, every place you are welcomed - should be all the better for your presence.

In all things, be candid.
But also, in all things, be considerate.

I live my life because I'm here for the adventure. I'm here to leave this place a little better than when I arrived. I live to encourage people to enjoy their imaginations and not to limit themselves based on societal expectations, or a predefined conception of reality.

Basically, I'm here to learn and grow, and then to share that knowledge with other people - in either thought or deed.

I'm just getting acquainted with Couch Surfing. At the moment, I'm a surfer. I'm in the process of leaving my apartment in WI and relocating to Austin, TX. Hopefully, once I'm settled in a new place, I can pay it forward and do some hosting.

Don't be fooled. I'm not an "everything" or even an "anything" person, musically. It pretty much needs to strike out at my heart in order for me to truly enjoy it.

My alltime favorite film is Jim Henson's Labyrinth - and thereafter, Legend, the Dark Crystal, Basquiat, Breakfast Club, Lost Boys, Dream a Little Dream, Stand by Me, and so on.

I cannot even begin to list my favorite books, as I'm sure I'll end up repeating them all to you in the event we meet :) Suffice it to say, "The Music of Razors" by Cameron Rogers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once, I auditioned for Laurie Partridge, on VH1's new Partridge Family. ...XD I belted out "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves" by Cher! HAHA! AWESOME. I definitely didn't make it past the first round, but it was probably the bravest thing I've ever done. Especially knowing that there was a potential for it to be televised. (SCANDAL)

Teach, Learn, Share

If you'd like to talk about creative writing and the process of constructing a short story, let's talk. :) I can't pretend to coach, as writing is not necessarily something that can be taught, and I'm certainly not an authority on the matter. However, I find that the more you speak about a particular story line, the more you birth it into existence. So if you've some ideas you'd like to toss around, I'm here for you. Let's do this.

Also, I can make jewelry. :) I worked in a bead store for 5 years. If you'd like any assistance in simple stringing techniques or earring making, I'm your girl.

Lastly, I know a thing or two about the publishing industry, and also working with vulnerable adults. Lemme know if you want to discuss techniques or anything.
