About Me

I'm an American living in Spain. I plan on moving to Berlin next August, so I'm trying to study German as much as I can. Hopefully I'll be doing some traveling around Portugal and Spain this spring too.

I am a transgender, I am transitioning. If that bothers you or that's an issue, please don't contact me.

I moved to Spain to finish my degree four years ago. I never left and ended up getting hired as a teacher/translator by a French company.

I spend a lot of my time reading and writing. I'm by no means antisocial. I love people. But clubbing and going to crowded places isn't really my thing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meeting people, making contacts for traveling.

Interests

Literature, reading, writing, traveling, learning languages, discussing culture, sometimes video games... I'm a nerd sometimes.

If you love sports, I really will make an effort to be enthusiastic and understand, but I am not so interested or knowledgable...

Music, Movies, and Books

Music from around the world. Idan Raichel (Israeli) is currently my favorite artist.

Books: The Santanic Verses, Salmon Rushdie. But so many other good ones.

I don't see many films, actually.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Backpacked from Southern Guatemala back to St. Louis, Missouri, USA, by land. Done anthropological field research in Guatemala, moved to Spain knowing no one, currently changing my gender.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you want book recommendations, I can probably keep talking until you've fallen asleep. I wrote my thesis on the Guatemalan highlands and their post-colonial history. You know, so I'm good at smalltalk...

I'm good at attempting to make ethnic foods. They usually taste good, even if not like they were originally supposed to.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Trips into the seventh dimension. Isn't this a repetition of the last question?

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Germany, Guatemala, Mexico, Morocco, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In

Spain, United States
