关于我

Namaste, travellers, I am Kuldeep from India. I'm someone who values kindness, mutual respect, and shared experiences. I believe the best part of travelling isn't the place, it's the people you meet along the way. That’s why I'm on Couchsurfing, not just to find a place to sleep, but to connect, share cultures, languages, and exchange stories over a cup of chai/coffee or a walk through your neighborhood.

Traveling isn't just a hobby for me, it's a way to understand the world beyond headlines, meet incredible people, and grow through every journey.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

As a PhD scholar in International Relations, I’m constantly exploring how the world is connected—socially, politically, culturally. But I don’t want to stay in theory. Through Couchsurfing, I want to live these connections, share stories, and see the world through others’ eyes.
I don’t just travel to see places—I travel to connect, share stories, and learn how people live, think, and dream around the world. For me, Couchsurfing is not about free accommodation—it's about creating meaningful, human connections.
I’m on Couchsurfing because I believe the soul of a place isn’t found in tourist spots or guidebooks—it’s found in people. As someone who travels not just to see, but to understand, Couchsurfing gives me a chance to connect with locals, exchange ideas, and experience a place from the inside out.

兴趣

I'm deeply passionate about exploring both the world around me and the ideas that shape it. I love engaging in conversations about politics, international relations, sustainable development, and philosophy, and I'm equally excited about spending time outdoors, playing sports like cricket, football, swimming, and horse riding.

Writing, blogging, and vlogging are how I reflect on my experiences and share them with others. I enjoy reading books on history, political science, and environmental issues, feminism, indian society, and I’m always open to learning from different cultures and perspectives.

When I’m not reading or debating politics over chai, you’ll probably find me doing yoga, meditating, cooking something new, or playing chess. I believe in sustainable living, mindful travel, and meaningful human connections, values I carry into every journey I take.

📚 Books:
As someone who studies International Relations, I read a mix of theory and literature. Some books and authors that have shaped my thinking:

Critical Theory; Postmodernism: Foucault’s “Discipline and Punish,” Derrida’s “Of Grammatology,” Lyotard’s “The Postmodern Condition”

Politics; Society: Arundhati Roy’s essays, Edward Said’s “Orientalism,” Ashis Nandy’s writings, and Noam Chomsky’s critiques on global politics

Fiction with a Message: George Orwell’s “1984” & “Animal Farm,” Albert Camus’ “The Stranger,” Gabriel García Márquez’s “One Hundred Years of Solitude,” and Premchand’s stories on rural India
These are books that don’t just inform—they disturb, challenge, and awaken.

🎬 Movies:
I’m drawn to films that leave you reflecting long after they end. Some that I deeply admire:

Philosophical Films: The Tree of Life, Ikiru, Waking Life, The Seventh Seal

History-based / Message-driven Cinema: The Lives of Others (East Germany surveillance), Court (Marathi, India), The Great Dictator (Chaplin), Persepolis, Gandhi, Fandry

Mystery with Depth: Prisoners, Zodiac, Tumbbad, Memories of Murder, Talvar

Indian Regional Gems: Masaan, Thithi, Village Rockstars, Peepli Live, and Ship of Theseus
These aren’t just films—they’re reflections of life, politics, silence, and sometimes, hope.

🎶 Music:
I love music that speaks truth, questions systems, or touches something deeper. I often listen to:

Revolutionary / Protest Music: John Lennon, Faiz Ahmed Faiz's poetry, Indian folk resistance songs, Piyush Mishra’s “Husna”, Rabbi Shergill’s “Bulla Ki Jaana”, or MC Kash’s rap on Kashmir.

Philosophical / Sufi Songs: Abida Parveen, Kailash Kher’s early songs, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, or Indian Ocean—music that blends mysticism with resistance.

International Artists: Victor Jara (Chile), Manu Chao, Bob Dylan, and Roger Waters are also close to my heart for their protest and anti-war themes.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

One of the most unforgettable experiences of my life was in Costa Rica—a country that feels like nature is alive and breathing around you.

While I was exploring the La Fortuna region, I had the surreal chance to witness Arenal Volcano, one of the most active volcanoes in the country, rumbling in the distance. The sky turned grey-blue, the air changed, and there was this low, powerful sound like the earth was speaking. I didn’t see lava flowing, but I saw the steam and smoke rise slowly into the sky—it was both peaceful and terrifying. It reminded me of how alive and fragile our planet really is.

Around the same time, I went horse riding deep inside the Costa Rican rainforest—no traffic, no city noise, just the sound of birds, waterfalls, and my horse’s breath. The trails were muddy, the greenery was dense, and the feeling of riding through that untouched wilderness was meditative. No screen, no internet—just you and the forest. It felt like time slowed down.

That experience made me realize how important it is to protect these natural spaces—and also how small we are in front of nature's raw beauty.

教,学,和分享

What I Can Teach:

Coming from an academic background in International Relations, I find myself drawn towards critical theory, postmodernism, and alternative ways of understanding the world. If you're interested in geopolitics, gender politics, environmental politics, or the power structures that shape our global society, we’ll have plenty to talk about.
Outside of academics, I can also teach you how to make simple and authentic Indian food, introduce you to Indian music and cultural traditions, or share some heartwarming stories from Indian villages that I’ve experienced firsthand.
I also practice yoga and meditation, which I believe are not just exercises but philosophies of balance—and I'd be happy to guide you if you're curious.
With my DSLR, I love creating visual stories, and I’d be happy to share some tips on photography or vlogging, or help you take some great shots if you’re a fellow creative!

What I Want to Learn:

I’m genuinely curious about how people across the world live their everyday lives—how they eat, relax, celebrate, think, or even argue. I’d love to learn new languages, try cooking something from your kitchen, or hear how your culture sees the world.
Even simple things—like walking through your local market or watching your favorite movie—teach me more than books ever can.

What I Can Share:

Besides good conversation and an open mind, I bring a deep sense of respect to every home I enter. I can help out with daily chores, share insights about India’s politics, culture, or rural life, and exchange playlists, books, or quiet reflections.
I’m not a tourist ticking off places—I try to connect, contribute, and leave a positive impact, even if it's small. Whether you want deep talks, quiet moments, or creative collaborations, I’ll meet you where you are.

我可以与沙发主分享些什么

As a guest, I truly believe in giving back, not just staying over. I respect the fact that you’re opening your home to a stranger, and I do my best to return that trust through kindness, cleanliness, and contribution.

Here’s what I can offer:

🫶 A respectful and responsible presence—someone who will treat your home with care

🍛 Home-cooked Indian meals if you're interested in trying something new and vegetarian

📷 Photography; videography help — I travel with my DSLR and can click portraits, help with content creation, or just document a memory

🧘‍♂️ Intro sessions in yoga and meditation for peace, energy, or just curiosity

🎶 A taste of Indian music, stories, and culture—from villages to cities, I love sharing what makes India so layered and diverse

🧠 Deep conversations (only if you're up for them!) on topics like geopolitics, gender, environmental issues, or postmodern theory—or simply listening to your perspective over tea

🧹 Help with small daily chores or cooking together—I enjoy being part of a home, not just a visitor

I can teach you languages (English and Indian Languages) and Political Science/ IR theories, basic maths, physics, Sociology, Public Administration.

I’m not here just to stay, I’m here to listen, help, and contribute, whether it’s with a meal, a meaningful conversation, or helping take some great pictures with my camera. For me, travel is about relationships, not reservations, and Couchsurfing reflects exactly that. I'm open to contribute anyway which is respectful. I hope to bring warmth, curiosity, and good vibes into your home.
