About Me

I'm new to this whole CouchSurfing thing but have been planning on using it since the time I decided to save up money and travel the world (about 3 years ago). My friend had great experiences on it and I knew I would have to try it out myself when I had the opportunity.

I grew up in small town Marshall, MI until I was 7, then moved to Brazil for 3 years with my family, then back to Marshall, and have been in the Southwest MI area ever since.

Meeting new people and traveling has always been one of my all-time favorite things to do (cliche-sounding, but true). But there's nothing like going to a different part of the world and seeing things from such a vastly different perspective than your own. I intend on doing that, and housing fellow CouchSurfers when I can in return.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To travel the world and instantly have a community of people who are locals, who know where to go, what places to see, and are open to new people and pointing them in the right direction for fun in whatever area you're in. And of course there's the obvious plus of it not being as expensive as staying at the Marriott everywhere you go. I have not, though, used Couchsurfing as of yet, since I haven't needed to. Now, I'd like to branch out in these new cities I'm visiting and start using this more to get a sense of what local life is actually like.

Interests

Music. All day, every day (either playing it, writing it, listening to it - anything involving music I'm pretty much game). Exploring, walking, cards, grilling, breweries, good conversation. I'm up for just about anything as long as it's interesting.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: John Mayer, Jimi Hendrix, PR Stunt (my band! check us out on Spotify (note: we're the cover with 2 guys standing on the front cover, not the green fist, don't know who that group is)) Eric Clapton, SRV, Beatles, RHCP... Newer music I tend to like a single song rather than be a big follower of the band (thank you Spotify). But guitar-centric stuff is usually my favorite, but I can appreciate just about anything.

Movies: Independence Day (FREAKIN aliens?!?!), MIB (FREAKIN aliens?!?!), Dumb and Dumber, Bourne Identity, Indiana Jones, Austin Powers (FREAKIN laser beams?!?!)

Books: Not too much of a book reader but; Life (Keith Richards), Time Traveler's Wife, White Fang & Call of the Wild are ones that come to mind (AKA ones I can remember reading and somewhat enjoying)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming with sharks? Saw the Iguazu Falls? Stood at the edge of a volcano? This section sounds braggy.......

Teach, Learn, Share

Not sure what all I should put in here being a newbie and all, but I would assume treating others with kindness...nay... treating others how you want to be treated, is always something that should be taught, learned, and shared. So that's arguably my biggest philosophy and what I expect from others, and hopefully share with others as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a couch (or as much floor space as you want), a place a few blocks from small town downtown, lots of snacks (not much of a cook), Wi-Fi, Netflix, all that. Mostly a warm place to crash though if that's what you're looking for.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Brazil, Canada, England, Mexico, Nicaragua, Portugal, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
