ABOUT ME

I am a southern born and raised boy who wants nothing more in life than to sleep under the stars with kids I can help, have a nice wife and kids of my own, serve my country, and grow my faith. That may be a lot, but hopefully it doesn't turn out to be too much to ask for.

I enjoy anything in the outdoors. I paddle, backpack, climb, cycle, etc, etc. I also enjoy long talks and moonlit walks along the beach...right...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate in CS by spreading the word, surfing, and having others over to surf with me.

I am a huge fan of this entire experiment. Such a great idea.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only surfed once--in Sacramento with Gary, below. It was definitely a great start. I hope to surf more.

I have also hosted surfers on two different occasions, one of which was a group of four. Both were great experiences, and I look forward to doing it again.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a huge movie fan, I have a collection of DVD's too long to list and no legitimate excuse for spending so much money on them.

However, my DVD's can't even begin to touch my library. I have books ranging from Biblical commentaries to a couple hundred titles on The Second World War. Right now I'm into reading peoples' journals of their travels and life experiences. Favorites of all time include The Chronicles of Narnia, The Fountainhead, The Little Prince, and just about anything on experiential education.

My musical tastes are all over the place. I can go from Alison Krauss' amazing bluegrass voice to gangster rap in about 2.4 seconds. It just all depends on my mood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The single most amazing event I have participated in would have to be skydiving. It was simply amazing. I have done a number of other things and seen much that I would consider a great blessing and incredible experiences, but leaving an airplane 15,000 feet above the ground is hard to beat.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to teach you anything about the outdoors. Being in the woods with kids and seeing their lives made better for it is totally my passion in life. I love the impact that nature can have on a person, and I would love to share any part of that with you. From hard skills like lighting a stove or choosing a tent to "soft" skills like group dynamics and judgment, I would love to share.
