On the academic side I am interested in literature and politics. I have various and sundry hobbies that seem to change from year to year. Right now I am hooked on badminton and chess.

I occasionally feel too mired in the humanities, and would like to know more about science. For example, maybe you could explain how it is that sound waves are digitized, or what happens when you look at the sun for too long, or what the palliative properties of pickle juice are. These would be especially good with some kind of demonstration.
