I'm a very recent transplant here in New Orleans. Originally from a small town in Southern Illinois, spent some time in college in Central Illinois, followed by an internship in St. Louis, and a move to Chicago (where I've spent the last 6-7 years). After visiting this wonderful town a few times, I decided it was time to take a break from the cold and windy one. So I packed my bags and here I am.
I currently work as a research assistant for a university (remotely), and I've also spent 10+ years in the service industry.
I'd say I'm very personable and outgoing, easy to talk to/get along with. I'm always ready for an adventure, but certainly don't mind a cozy night in to catch up on television shows/movies/play games.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
I love exploring new places with new people, and can't wait to get to know this city better (with new friends!).
Cooking, exploring, table-top games (Fluxx, anyone?), video games, climbing things (buildings, trees, anything really). I played trumpet for about 14-15 years, French horn for 5-6, and I play(around) with guitars.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres
The following is pretty much copy-pasted from my old OkCupid profile and updated in spots... (I mean, the format is pretty similar, right??!)
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (again), Lamb - Christopher Moore (again), Dostoevsky's The Idiot. This book and I have had a long arduous affair since freshman year of college. I read 2 or 3 things at once and am easily distracted.
Girl with the Curious Hair - DFW, Dry - Augusten Burroughs, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter - Carson McCullers, Carlos Ruiz Zafón - The Shadow of the Wind Trilogy, Consider the Lobster - David Foster Wallace, A few John Green books, Some Dostoevsky short stories
Also re-read the Sherlock Holmes collection (I do this every so often.)
A select few from the past: The Fault in Our Stars, Grapes of Wrath, Angels in America, The Road, Invisible Monsters, Ender's Game, Lamb (both Christopher Moore's and Bonnie Nadzam's)
Other authors include but are not limited to: Pushkin, more Dostoevsky, Robert Ludlum, Clancy, Grisham, Kerouac, etc. (I worked at a used book store for a while, and wish I still did.)
All Bond films. The Bourne trilogy, the Indiana Jones trilogy, the LOTR trilogy, and *The* Trilogy.
Any and all musicals, some cheesy action movies, old kung fu films, indie flicks, the occasional rom com... I mostly don't like gore, though thrillers are always welcome. It's hard for me to choose favorites, I enjoy a lot of things.
Oh boy... I have a lot of shows queued up on a weekly basis... but here's a selection:
Da Vinci's Demons, Penny Dreadful, Downton Abbey, Sherlock, Mad Men, OUAT, Shameless, House of Lies, GoT, etc...
I also somewhat recently finally finished Buffy, started Dollhouse, finished Sopranos, and rewatched the new Doctor Who.
Irish folk, any and all classic rock, blues, jazz, 80s, 90s, and well... anything really...
The Decemberists, Cake, LCD Soundsystem, Streetlight Manifesto, the Strokes, the Black Keys, Luke Kelly, Tommy Makem, JT, Atmosphere, David Bowie...
Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
So many things come to mind...
