About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Promoting as my passion. Off grid electric power. The national grid is inherently an unstable entity, and being made more unstable by feeding solar and wind power into it. The instability resulting from renewable energy arises from the fact that both solar and wind have varying outputs that can vary hour to hour and day to day, whereas the grid operates best in steady state conditions. Very large solar and wind farms are being set up which are feeding electricity to the grid. This is the wrong way to do it. Instead, as a national policy, we should all as consumers, commercial, manufacturing and colleges should go off grid.

As off grid use grows, central power demand will go down, until at some time over the next few decades, it will fall to zero. Central plants, whether fossil and/or nuclear fueled, will close down. There will be no more a need for oil or nuclear fuel.

The technology for renewable off grid exists, and is very economical, more so wind power as opposed to solar. Typically, wind systems for a typical residencial costs in the range $5,000 to $10,000, paying back through savings in about 2.5 years or less.

It is worth remembering that the sum total of all electric power generated the world over, by all countries, does not even amount to 3.5% of total usable renewable energy available to us.

Now let us imagine a world without central power: clean air, no more oil pipelines, drilling, fracking, nuclear reactors, transmission towers, refineries. Is this what Utopia is supposed to be?

ABOUT ME

Aside from being a technical nerd, I also have thoughts on social and political issues such as private insurance based health care in America, the endless wars we get into without winning any (if we ever win any, what do we do, create a brutal occupation?), the monstrosity known as the privatized prison system, our failed multi-tiered justice system, etc. You might visit my blogs on these matters at www.soodsayer.com

PHILOSOPHY

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I state my views on my blog: nihalpost.wordpress.com. In my spare time, I enjoy working outdoors, making house repairs indoors, and planting a small herb and vegetable garden.

Interests

I have several items that interest me that take up my time: yard work, politics, health care policy, etc. Love all animals, including my wife.

  • working out
  • gardening
  • politics
  • blogging
  • outdoor activities
  • boxing
  • business
  • emergency services
  • engineering

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: love a good plot, drama, and a quality comedy. Do not care much about Lucas type films which are nothing more than a series of special effects. Nor do I care much about car chases, fires, and explosions throughout a movie.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been in the energy business most of my life: conservation, generation, renwable enrgy technologies, etc. If I can share my knowledge with any budding young person, I shall most happily do so.
