About Me

CURRENT MISSION

build up my social capital

ABOUT ME

Whenever I travel, fate brings me to the places that Lonely Planet describes as "the Wild West of [country x]." Those kinds of places suit me because I'd rather share perspectives with residents over the local brew (coffee or otherwise) than check landmarks off a list. I also get a kick out of plants but find them most interesting when I learn about their connections to people.

PHILOSOPHY

Ask the I-Ching and take it very literally.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Wire and Breaking Bad more than movies. I rarely watch anything more than once, so I can't say I have favorite films really.

Electronica, Radiohead, and folk music from around the world. I firmly believe (and hope) cumbia will infiltrate the Midwest.

1491 and 1493 are my current favorite books. I'll probably be working on getting through Infinite Jest until I die.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and tried to sleep amidst very hot 1.5 billion-year-old rocks.

Did not lose a rental car to a land slide in the Sierra de las Minas, Guatemala. (I can't say I saved it, though.)

Teach, Learn, Share

Can teach homebrewing and some baking. I always enjoy learning new recipes.

Countries I’ve Visited

Brazil, Chile, El Salvador, France, Honduras, Netherlands, Serbia, Spain, Uganda, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, United States
