ABOUT ME

I'm Nyssa, and I come from a beautiful town in the Pacific Northwest (Washington State). I love my home on the West Coast, we live in close range to many diverse natural places - mountains, the ocean, forests, lakes, and the San Juan Islands. Growing up there has really kindled my love of the outdoors. I am respectful, kind and responsible. Currently I am traveling around Europe with the intention of learning about sustainable ways of living, practical skills, growing food, natural building and meeting like-minded people who share these interests.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am very new to couch surfing, so I do not have much experience on this site, but I've been traveling around France for the last month staying with folks through a website called Workaway. Workaway is designed to give people extended stays where you are involved in tasks the host needs help with in exchange for a place to sleep and food.

Interests

I love sailing, biking, kayaking, hiking, exploring and being present in the places I go. Of course there are many other things to know about me, but I'll just leave it at that for now!

Music: Recently listening to - The Civil Wars, Fleet Foxes, Mumford and Sons, The Head and The Heart, Simon and Garfunkel, Crosby Stills and Nash, Ivan & Alyosha etc..
Books: Most recently finished - Wild by Cheryl Strayed (who highly recommend for the traveler spirit)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Picking up my small town self at 19 and traveling across the US by train, flying across the Atlantic and solo traveling in France.

Sailing on tall ships have been incredible too. Tall ships I've crewed on: The Lady Washington, The Zodiac

Teach, Learn, Share

What I can share: artistic creativity, sailing skills, cooking/baking, basic sewing skills, basic food growing/gardening skills, adventurer spirit :)

What I'd like to learn: always book/music recommendations, musical instrument playing skills (I know a tiny bit of banjo) sustainable living ideas, building, community growing.. EVERYTHING ;)
