Hi! I'm Phill - I've reactivated my Couchsurfing profile after a LONG time absent. I am travelling for the first time in many years, and remember some amazing experiences connecting with people here - both when travelling and hosting when I lived in Budapest.

I live in New Plymouth, NZ - basically paradise! I'm 38, I live in a flat with 2 others of a similar age, a 5 minute walk from the beach. I work a few jobs - regular hours for a local community radio station in a relationship management role (occasionally presenting!) and I also founded and run Improv Taranaki - where we put on comedy shows at our local theatre. For this group, I am the artistic director, lead coach, MC, show producer, marketer, administrator.... the list goes on. It's my passion to spread this art, and the joy and love inherent to it!

I'm in a relationship, with my German partner (hence 'learning' German); she's a powerhouse of creativity and is similarly adventurous.

When I'm not working crazy hours, I have been learning to surf, enjoy running and reading. Love meeting new people and hearing about their diverse perspectives and ways of living life!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here because firstly, I have an upcoming trip and would love to do some couchsurfing again! I'll be in Melbourne for 10 days in May, and then Europe (primarily Amsterdam) for 4/5 weeks after that.

I always loved the ethos of this community - sharing culture, building authentic connections not based around financial transaction.
