I am here to make new friends and perhaps improve my language skills before I (hopefully) go to Japan as an exchange student.

ABOUT ME

Raised in Bodø, a city located in the north of Norway close to the vast Atlantic Ocean. There we have five months of winter, midnight sun, northern light, and beautiful wild nature. I currently live in Narvik while studying to become an engineer in Sustainable Energy. On my spare time I love bringing out the artistic side of me by drawing and painting pictures. Interests

I enjoy being outside and enjoy nature. Drawing, painting, reading books (both educational and novels), play on my violin and spend time with friends. Generally I love to explore and try out new things.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Everything about art, culture, architecture, historical books, and books written by authors like Khaled Hosseini, Per Petterson, Jo Nesboe, Haruki Murakami, Jamie Ford, Victoria Hislop, Thomas Harris and Paulo Coelho. I am currently reading "The hundred year old man who stepped out of the window and disappeared" by Jonas Jonasson, and after that I'll scuba dive into John Irving's universe. :D

Music: it changes with my mood, but I never get tired of Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits, Opeth, classical music and Original soundtracks made by Nobuo Uematsu, Joe Hisaishi, Lorne Balfe, Jesper kyd and Hans Zimmer.

Movies: I am very fond of Studio Ghibli, Dreamworks, some japanese animes, movies directed by Quentin Tarantino, Christopher Nolan, Peter Jackson, Guy Ritchie and Ridley Scott, to mention some.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The midnight sun!

In winter I put on my overalls and lie down in the snow just to look at the sky. Because of very little light pollution, you can see the starry sky perfectly on a clear night. Northern light dancing across the starry sky is a must see!

I play violin and have played at many concerts over the years, both in quartets and great orchestras.

I've seen plenty of shooting stars and often visited the world's strongest maelstrom, located not far from my home town.

Teach, Learn, Share

As I am Norwegian I know my own language very well. I also speak and write English pretty well. Swedish and Danish languages are related to the Norwegian language, so I can communicate with people from these countries as well. I know some french french, and the basics of Japanese (including the hiragana, katakana and some kanji).

I would really appreciate it if someone from Japan would like to exchange some language skills with me, since I am moving to Japan within a year if everything goes as planned. It would be nice to get to know the country from someone with first hand information.
