About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel lightly and happily and assist others along the way.

ABOUT ME

I found a home in Colorado and cherish the many old friends that live here with me. There are many old friends in various places I've travelled and I'm excited to add more from the places I'll go. A few adventures I never expected to do have enlightened me. There are a few I've yet to do that are forth coming. I have New Hampshire and Maine left to walk on the Appalachian Trail and I can't wait to get back on the trail. I'm getting in touch with my family history with a trip to Georgia (Yes, the state) and Scotland later this year. A retired teacher, I'm learning how to live this new phase of life. It ain't hard.

PHILOSOPHY

How do you live your life? The "Golden Rule" is the baseline. And after fifty years on the planet, I see this as the "less responsible half" of life. If you don't do it now, when will ya?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Friends have crashed on my couch and floor for decades. This is a great idea to open doors for houses and communities. I look forward to finding couches to surf and for having my couch and floor surfed more often. So is my roommate, Tuck "the wonder dog".

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

What kinds of experiences have you had through CouchSurfing?I'm a "newbie" to Couch Surfing, formally. Much of my life, I've crashed on friend's couches or floors to see what I can see. One of may favorite couches was a welcome friend in a VW van in Yellowstone one cold rainy night. Yippee!

Interests

Having not surfed "officially", I've awoken on many floors around the country and some of the warmest meals are group efforts in a happy kitchen.

Music, Movies, and Books

What do you like to watch, read, and listen to?The "Blank Slate" was a game changer. I read history, biography, and philosophy. Mark Twain is a forgotten great writer I've rediscovered. What a gift with words!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Share a story of something that really struck you.Ah. There's more than one. Rafting the Grand Canyon was life changing for the majesty of the canyon and the forces of nature. Hiking the Appalachian Trail was life changing for the people I met on the trail and in the towns and byways along the way. What Wonder!

Teach, Learn, Share

What kinds of skills or information could you share with someone? What would you like to learn?I can share hospitality and patience. I'd like to learn to throw off some caution and travel more.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Germany, Italy, Mexico
