About Me

I’m Czech, born and raised, but my name and looks don’t exactly scream “Czech.” That usually leads to funny (and sometimes awkward) moments when I have to explain my background. It’s a decent icebreaker, though it gets old fast, and I’ve grown a bit tired of always introducing myself like that. BUT I’m quite an extroverted guy, I love talking to people, and I like to think that I’m funny (fingers crossed), so, I don't mind some more attention:-)

Other then that, I’m a university student in Brno, studying history and social studies. At the same time, I also work as a secondary school teacher, sharing my passion for these subjects — and I absolutely love my job!

Becoming a teacher was anything but a straight line. As a kid, my dream job was basically “professional gamer” (spoiler: didn’t happen). I first tried studying to be an electrician, quickly realized wires and circuits weren’t my thing, and switched to social studies with plans to become a psychologist. Then therapy took over that role and I found out, that I didnt need to become one, but that I need one to speak to. After school I chased money working at a bank, only to end up burned out. That’s when I finally slowed down, did some self-reflection, and found teaching. Since then, no regrets — I’m happier than ever and grateful for the detours that got me here.

Some things I very much enjoy:

Traveling – On a recent hitchhiking trip with my girlfriend, I discovered how much I really love meeting new people — especially the kind I’d probably never come across in everyday life. Hitchhiking combined with Couchsurfing really helped me realize that. When I travel, the most important thing for me is to learn — whether it’s about local culture, nature, the people I meet, or even about myself.

Talking – I’m very talkative (did I mentioned that already?), and I like to think I’m someone who’s easy to talk to and fun to have a chat with.

Listening – Yes, I can actually do that too!

Running – I’ve found it’s the best way for me to shake off a bad mood and feel more alive and energized. I also love views from hills, lookout towers, and mountains — and running helps me get there quickly! There’s something really satisfying about running uphill, taking in a beautiful view at the top, and then heading back down.

I could list so much more, but I’ll save the rest for when we meet in person:-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m here to travel, and Couchsurfing makes the journey both fun and affordable. I love meeting locals, hearing their stories, and seeing places through their eyes. For me, the best part of traveling is the people I connect with and the sights that stay with me long after the trip.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite book series is The Witcher. I love how it mixes fantasy with deep, sometimes tricky questions about right and wrong, it’s the kind of story I can get totally lost in.

When it comes to music, I’m pretty easygoing, but swing and pop really get me moving. Swing has that awesome, feel-good vibe, and pop songs just stick in my head in the best way.

I don’t watch a lot of movies, but The Lord of the Rings trilogy is a classic I can watch over and over — epic adventures and stunning landscapes for days! Also, Your Name is one of those rare animated films that’s both beautiful and emotional — definitely worth a watch.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hard to say what's the one thing I'd choose, but recently, I've finished my university degree while working full time. I also completed something like a charity run, where I ran 100 km in 24 hours. And the last one might be hitchhiking (with one bus ride:-) from the sea in Rijeka all the way to Brno in a single day.
