About Me

I am interested in philosophy, learning new things about the world and life. Which makes me outgoing and a traveler. I like talking to new people.
I would be glad to meet new friends.

ABOUT ME

I'm from the Far East - that's north of China. Vast territory with few people and nothing to do. To escape from boredom people there make babies.
I moved to the Western part of Russia after graduation to meet more interesting people who can talk subjects other than shopping, babies and where exactly in China they are planning their next vacation.
At university I studied USA and Canada (regional studies). In 2015 I studied in China for 4 months.
I am concerned with environmental issues and I've been trying to think up ways how to live my life doing no harm to nature and my health. Example: I haven't used washing powder and medicine in years!
I don't like taking pictures of myself with different sights in the back. I think it spoils the view. I prefer pictures taken spontaneously, when you don't expect that and are not posing on purpose.
I don't like cities, I prefer countryside with modern infrastructure and all achievements of civilization. I think it's a happy and healthy way to live.

To me couchsurfing is about communication, sharing cultures. It's not about free loading. I mean my place is not a free hostel and when I invite people, it means you are my guests, it's not like a hotel or hostel and me a receptionist. I expect to spend some time together. You know, the way when guests come. Otherwise the whole thing is not interesting to me.

Here is some info on permits for border zones in North Caucasus
https://caucasus-explorer.com/en/special-permits-in-caucasus/

And some information from FSB: no special permit is required to enter mountainous area near Itum-Kali. Also no permit is required to go to Kazenoy Am lake. You will need a permit to see "the city of dead" Tsoy-Pede deeper in the mountains.

It's a travel guide to Chechnya, first half is in Russian, another half in English.
Ссылка на путеводитель по Чечне, первая часть на русском.

I live in a Chechen village called Ushkaloy in the mountains, where you could be my guest. There's a bus from Grozny to this village.
I know a couple of nice spots in Chechnya (lake and waterfalls + some other sights on the way to them) and we could hitchhike there together. I enjoy going there, but I need company for that (see below).
Also I can show you around Grozny in my free time (it doesn't take much time and all the best sights are in the mountains).
I've spent a year in Chechnya now, so I do have something to tell about this land :)

Recommendation for solo female travelers in Chechnya: don't talk to or smile at Chechen men. Also avoid staying alone with them. Try to wear something not too short and tight.

Recommendation for male travelers in Chechnya: no shorts in summer. A shirt and long pants will do it. Avoid Chechen women - don't try to shake their hand or hug them. Don't touch them. Also it's better not to talk to them.

PHILOSOPHY

Be the change you want to see in the world.
What we do in life, echoes in eternity.
"Fuck it, man. Let's go bowlin".
Why not?
Memento mori
Carpe diem

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't watch typical Hollywood movies, because I think people who make them don't really have anything to say. I like mystical and witty movies, educational and documentaries.
A number of Russian movies like Kin-dza-dza, Moscow doesn't believe in tears - all the movies I like were shot in the Soviet period. They are human and have a spark.
La stanza del figlio (Italy, 2001) and Amour (France, 2012), La peau de chagrin (2010).

My favorite books are Alice's adventures in Wonderland, Little prince, Master and Margarita by Bulgakov,
Paris talks and Some answered questions by Abdul-Baha.
