About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Eight roommates, three stories, two bathrooms, one community.
ABOUT ME
An open and accepting environment for students of all walks of life to live. If you're looking for somewhere without landlords, where chores and rules are self-governed, and where your rent and hard work truly pay off, Olive House is the place to be.
Our cooperative started in 1939 as the Jayhawk Coop. The house went through many organizational shifts and closed at an unknown date in the 1960s. After a stint of being filled with several groups including an alleged cadre of yogis, a band of followers of a rare religion, and a group of vegetarians, it was reopened as a student coop in 1998.
The Olive House is also a proud sister cooperative to the Ad Astra and Sunflower House coops in Lawrence. Live here and own your house!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We have been an unofficial Couchsurfing participant for ages, but mainly just through referrals. We have lots of couches and spaces for people to be social. We also have a nice backyard, if you want to set up a tent or a hammock (Or sleep on the trampoline...I've had some of the best sleep of my life on that thing).
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We are a diverse co-ed house with a plethora of traveling experience.
