About Me

Originally from Boston, attended university in St. Louis, Missouri and am currently teaching English in Toulouse, France.

My favorite way to travel is off the beaten path; I think cities are best explored by directionless wandering and the thing that is most gratifying for me is stumbling upon unexpected sights such as an ivy-framed window, a café tucked into a charming square or a bench perfectly situated for people-watching.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travel to meet new people and gain new perspectives, not so much to visit top attractions and monuments, so Couchsurfing is an ideal way to get the inside scoop from locals.

Interests

My main interests include psychology, literature, cooking, hiking, farming/ gardening and running but I'm open to learning about pretty much anything new.

Music, Movies, and Books

Huge fan of 60s (The Beatles, Johnny Cash, The Beach Boys) and 80s (REO Speedwagon, The Cars, A-Ha, Bruce Springsteen, ELO) music

I don't get around to watching films very often, but I do like Le Fabuleux déstin d'Amélie Poulin, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Citizen Kane, The Prestige and Une femme est une femme.

Too many favorite books to list, but the most recent ones I've read and thoroughly enjoyed were Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Ernest & Rilke's Letters to a Young Poet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've tasted 94 different flavors of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Phish Food will always be the best, although Hazed and Confused was a close second.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: French, how to do a headstand and make top-notch chocolate chip pumpkin bread.

Learn: local idioms/ expressions, how to make an omelet, new music & artists, how to ride a bike with no hands and solve a Rubix cube, to name a few.
