ABOUT ME

First off, I'm Canadian. As the stereotypes would lead you to believe I do say eh' and sorry quite frequently. One of the reasons I haven't traveled internationally as much as I'd like is that I've been busy exploring the wonders of my own country. If you haven't been to Canada, please do-you won't regret it.

I love the outdoors, all seasons, all activities. I organize camping trips for friends and my university club, and enjoy back country canoeing, hiking and snowshoeing. I think that hiking and camping with someone is the best way to get to know them. Anyone up for a hike?

Random fact: recently I've been on a mission to try new things. Seems normal enough. This has involved taking up running, and eating fish (two things I had a strong aversion to until recently). The reason behind it? I want to make myself as self sufficient as I can in the odd chance that there ever was an apocalypse and I had to survive on my own in the wilderness. What better way to make sure I'm in shape than running? What better food source is there than fish? Oh, how my mind works. In the likely event that something like a zombie apocalypse doesn't happen? At least I'm more fit and enjoy more types of food than before ;)

PHILOSOPHY

There are so many different things I could say to describe my personal philosophy, but its kind of a hard thing to put into words. Respect is a big one for me, pretty self explanatory. Basically involves treating people how I would want to be treated. I love hearing about people's views on issues, and discussing various topics that people feel passionate about. Regardless of my views or conflicting beliefs about such topics there is a great deal to be learnt from discussions with others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am relatively new to Couchsurfing, and have heard only good things from people. I have many friends who swear by this as the very best way to travel. I eager to get to know many people from all over the world.

Interests

I like people. Such a general statement I know, but its true. I work with all different types of people in my job as a nurse, and really enjoy getting to know each person's story, what made them who they are today.

A passion of mine is water sports, I'm on a mission to try as many of them as I can. I haven't found a place that I am more comfortable than when I'm around water. One of the most obscure sports I've engaged in is underwater hockey. I know, hockey, such a Canadian sport, who knew it could be played at the bottom of a pool? I'm not saying I'm good at all water sports, but I'm always up for a challenge.

Music, Movies, and Books

Yes, I like each of those. The genre, length, topic, or time period of which is completely variable. Depends on my mood, time of day, weather, and company. I have no preference of music, I love it all.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few of the most amazing and enjoyable experiences I've had have been on camping trips watching the sunrise from a canoe. Simple yet extraordinary, sunrises always leave me with a sense of awe.

Teach, Learn, Share

As a nurse I have a lot of knowledge about the body, about health and disease. I know a lot about pathophysiology as well as the more social aspects surrounding health and wellness. Ask me anything about health and if I don't know the answer we can figure it out together.
