CURRENT MISSION

Finally visit Scandinavia! It's a region I've romanticized all my life - I'm excited to finally visit and see how it holds up to my daydreams!

ABOUT ME

I'm an avid student, intending to stay in academia and specifically studying culture/nationalism in Canada. I've spent a few months living on the West Coast and am currently back in Southern Ontario, but hope to branch out again soon! I'm also a newly avid gardener who is especially interested in growing veggies and plants which are beneficial for bees (very into saving the bees!). I quite like hiking and climbed more mountains then I ever would have expected when I lived in Vancouver - I want to do more of that! However my greatest love, when travelling, is history - museums and ruins and castles hooray! I love exploring urban spaces, especially if they're not as sprawling as North American cities tend to be.

PHILOSOPHY

I view everything through my interests - everything has significance, whether it be tropes in the media or behaviours which remind us of how the concept of gender structures our communities!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet! But a friend of mine is pretty involved with Couchsurfers in Toronto, and it seemed a great way to meet new people in a city where I know nobody!

Intereses

I'm a media, history and sociology student, obviously fascinated by Canadian nationalism. I've done independent research on the relationships between social media and political disengagement among Millennials, and am now beginning a research project looking at Canadian nationalism in graphic novels. I'm also really into sci-fi and comedy, queer issues and feminism, and comic books! I love theatre as well (both watching it and being in it) and am interested in urban architecture and history!

Visited the Yukon, where a group of friends and I drove from Whitehorse to Skagway, Alaska. It was a spur of the moment trip (I'd never been particularly interested in the Yukon) that completely opened my eyes as to how beautiful Northern Canada can be.
