Overview
About Me
I've moved from my rural region in Québec to Montréal two years ago. I would say that i'm a talkative person, close to his family and able to share opinions with rational thought.
I buy more books that i read and i find it to be healthy !
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing seems the perfect place to combine new friends, a unique overlook to other one's culture and the possibility to travel on a budget.
I didn't get to travel much except that one big trip to Russia a couple years ago. But i'm eager to add some destinations.
Interests
Even if i study history, i would describe my principal interest with a more general term : social sciences. It goes from sociology to political science. I spent a lot of time reading newspapers from aroud the world and i consider journalism as a vital tool to absorb the changes that occurs in our societies,
I like to explore the notions of identity, symbolism and folklore. There is nothing like an odd tradtion from your country to understand your culture. Be sure i will ask questions about that !
Social issues matters to me even if i'm not very implacated in organisms. I've recently begin to give time for a Meals on Wheels of my neighborhood.
I hit the gym and play soccer and tennis. I like to walk in the forrest and to do camping.
I'm a museum-goer and i also really enjoy microbreweries.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen mostly to modern and alternative rock ( Arcade fire, The Black Keys, Kings of leons) and classics (Pink flyod). I have affection for some french singers (Piaf, Ferré, Aznavour). And i cannot go away from the hip hop artists from my teenage years ( Snoop, Dr.Dre, Wu-tang, Eminem).
I mostly read essays, but also fiction. Dostoievsky is among my favorites. I also read Balzac, Bernard Werber, Goerge Orwell and Stephen King. Add to this some Quebec writers.
For movies, i prefer drama and international cinema. Not the action and sc-fiction type. I like the work of director Bennett Milller (Capote, Moneyball, Foxcatcher) and actors Daniel Day-Lewis, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Peter O'Toole ( did you see Lawrence of Arabia ?)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When i was in Moscow, the trip group was tired and heading to the hotel. Me and an other member decided to walk randomly in the city. We ended in a old and characteristic orthodox church where there was a ceremony. Some were singning powerful religious stuff, a couple of old persons were preying and many elements of the church were covered with gold. Time seemed frozen. We felt that it was a authentic russian experience, with the russian people.
Shorter story : I recolted funds last december for a pediatric association at a street's corner.
Teach, Learn, Share
Since my researchs are on Canada and Québec history, i could talk a bit about our culture and the «big picture» of our society. We do not have a boring country ;)
