About Me

Hi! I’m Ömer, originally from Turkey. I’m someone who enjoys meeting new people, learning about different cultures, and sharing experiences. I love meaningful conversations, spontaneous walks in new cities, and discovering places beyond the tourist spots.

I work in a hands-on field — tile and ceramic finishing — but I also have experience in teaching and tech. I’ve taught software development to teams at big companies, which helped me develop a love for sharing knowledge and connecting with people from all walks of life.

I’m easygoing, respectful, and curious. I try to be a good guest by being mindful, clean, and open. Couchsurfing, for me, is not just about a place to stay — it’s about the people you meet and the stories you take with you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because I love connecting with new people and experiencing places through the eyes of locals. For me, traveling isn’t just about sightseeing — it’s about stories, conversations, and sharing everyday life, even if it’s just for a few days.

I enjoy learning about different cultures, trying local food, and exchanging perspectives. Couchsurfing gives me the opportunity to travel in a more meaningful way, and I’m always happy to share my own culture and experiences in return

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy a mix of everything! When it comes to music, I like anything that has a good vibe — from indie and alternative rock to lo-fi chill beats. Sometimes I listen to Turkish folk music when I feel nostalgic.

For movies, I love well-written dramas and meaningful stories. Some favorites are Into the Wild, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and Parasite. I also enjoy documentaries that make me think or feel inspired.

Books? I read both fiction and non-fiction. I enjoy authors like Haruki Murakami and George Orwell, and I also read books about travel, creativity, and personal growth.

I’m always curious to hear what other people are into — recommendations are welcome!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I’ve done was teaching software development to teams at big companies like Vodafone and Burger King. It was an incredible experience to share what I know and help others grow, especially in such professional environments. Seeing people learn and improve thanks to something I taught was truly rewarding — and it showed me how powerful knowledge-sharing can be.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe everyone has something to teach and something to learn — and that’s what makes Couchsurfing so special!

I can teach some basic Turkish phrases, share insights about Turkish culture, and even show how tile and ceramic work is done — it’s part of what I do professionally. I also have experience teaching software, so I’m always happy to explain tech stuff in a simple way.

I’d love to learn about your local culture, daily life, and the little things that make your city special. I’m always curious about how people live, think, and eat in different parts of the world.

And I’d be happy to share good conversations, laughs, travel stories, and maybe even cook a simple Turkish meal together.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my time, good energy, and stories from my travels and work. I enjoy meaningful conversations and learning about others’ lives and cultures. If you’re interested, I’d be happy to cook a simple Turkish dish or teach you a few words in Turkish!

I can also share practical skills — I work in tile and ceramic finishing, so I know a thing or two about handiwork and DIY stuff. I also have experience in tech and teaching, so I’m always happy to help with anything digital.

Most of all, I can share respect, curiosity, and a positive attitude — and I always try to leave a good memory behind.
