Hey there

I'm a nanny in NYC, originally from a small, cowtown in Upstate NY, and like most couchsurfers, am passionate about travel. I work to pay the bills, and save up money to, you guessed it, travel! I've WWOOFed for six months in NZ and AU, backpacked solo for three months around Mexico, learning the language as I went along, visited Ireland, London, Shanghai, about half the US states, spent three weeks lounging around Hawaii, cruised Alaska, and am currently saving for my dream: a round the world trip! I have to note that I have never actually used this site, but I have crashed with so many locals on my travels, through WWOOFing and using helpx.net, that I never needed couchsurfing until now; I am currently homebound in the States, saving for more travels, and in the meantime am taking small trips here and there to satisfy my wanderlust.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I prefer living with locals over staying in hotels because I like being immersed in the culture that I'm exploring; hotels separate, couchsurfing brings the people together! I love people, and knowing what spots the locals prefer, rather than relying on guidebooks that suck tourists into gaggles and then fleeces them!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite bands are Phish and The Beatles, but I love all music, except country; I was subjected to enough of that growing up..... my favorite movies are Tarantino and Cameron Crowe flicks, and I'll read anything and everything; the Kindle is a childhood dream of mine come true - an entire, portable library in my pack! The Grapes of Wrath, though, is one of my all time favorite books, and I've read She's Come Undone about 10 times, and met Wally Lamb in Central Park and got to tell him so!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Backpacked solo around Mexico for three months; I'm a six foot one, blonde, woman and stuck out like a sore thumb, and knew only very basic Spanish..... I had the time of my life.
