About Me

ABOUT ME

Curious about people, about the world. Friendly! Into listening. Into going out. Down for pretty much anything--dumpster-diving, going to a rave, protest, watching netflix, aquarium, etc.

PHILOSOPHY

Listen, listen, listen.

Be respectful and sensitive to people's needs and identity. Make sure when you're raving about how messed up the world is, that you're attacking the top. That is, attack the systems that hold people down, that make them fearful, that make them separate, that make them unheard. That system is not invulnerable, though it is well-defended.

Check in with people. Check in with yourself. Be a good person to be around, and not a dick. Be generous. And help out.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch-surfed in Chicago in 2010. It was lovely! We went to a big rooftop party of our host's friends. It was for Pitchfork Festival, which, also, was amazing.

Interests

Social justice, mostly. Systems of power. The under-representation of marginalized people in media.

Um, books! Hiking, running, TV shows, movies, music (lots of music), philosophy, beer, relationships... I hope this isn't too vague. This is slightly harder than OKCupid.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a teacher, slowly developing into a legit one. I listen to as many people as I can and synthesize a worldview that can help people understand other's points of view while taking into account their own blinders.

Social Justice is something I take seriously, even in my missteps. Learning about how the world benefits off the backs of the lower class and the second hand citizens of the world is important and spreading awareness of the systems that encourage it is even more important. So, if you're curious about that, I've been reading lots about that.

I'm good at rock climbing, too.

I'm trying to learn to skateboard, so if you've got some tips, it would be a blast to practice.
