Hello, my name is Onyou Lee. I am a third year college student from South Korea. I go to a liberal arts college in Indiana, U.S.A. However, currently, I am staying in Switzerland as I have participated in a study abroad program. I study International Relations, and am interested in philosophy too. Before entering college, I was homeschooled for over 8 years. Initially the decision to homeschool was made by my parents, but later on I chose to continue homeschooling. Thanks to homeschooling, I was able to experience a variety of things of which many students who go to school would not have had.
I play two instruments: piano and violin. For the past two years back in my college, I played the violin as a concertmaster. I also like reading novels, and learning about history. Also, I am a Christian.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

As of last Friday, my semester in Switzerland ended and the winter break has started! I need to fly back to America on the first week of January 2017 to start my second semester as a junior. Before then, I am planning to travel neighbouring countries of Switzerland as this is my first time being in Europe. I have about two weeks and a half to travel, and I would like to go visit Germany and Austria.

The primary reason why I'm on couchsurfing is that I have not enough finance to travel both countires for the duration of two weeks. But additionally, I heard from a number of my friends who tried couchsurfing before and I became quite interested in the idea of experiencing couchsurfing. As I began thinking about the possibility of meeting wonderful hosts and some nice peers who are on couchsurfing, I became excited and came to the conclusion that I should at least give it try once. It would be such a unique and memorable experience to spend Christmas and the New Year with those whom I meet on the way of traveling!

When it comes to favorite music, I cannot pick only one as there are just so many. But I would say my top two favorite music are 1) Waiting by Yi Sung Yol, and 2) I Can't Help Falling in Love With You.

My favorite movies lately are Before Sunset and Our Little Sister (by Hirokazu Koreeda)

Concerning books, I love every novel by Jane Austen.

I have some months of teaching experience. When I was a senior in high school, I used to teach two students as a part-time job. One was a middle school student, and I taught him TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and assisted him with daily conversational English. The other was an elementary school student, and I taught her both English and the violin.

1) If the host has a piano in her house, I would be more than willing to play it! Although I won't be able to carry my violin on my travel, I would also be happy to present a number of songs if the host ever has her own violin!

2) I can definitely share my stories of childhood, and tell how it was like to grow up homeschooled, and the experience of U.S. college.

3) Only if the host is interested, I will be willing to teach her some basic Korean, and several useful expressions!
