Overview
About Me
I'm a climate scientist who loves biking and playing chess and looking at maps and wandering around in mountains and puns. I also love cryptic crosswords. I'm originally from New England in the U.S. but now live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest where we have mountains and forests and sea.
When people describe me in one word they often use "enthusiastic".
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It's just way more fun exploring a new place with someone who can share their own stories about it. What's the strangest place in your neighborhood? Can we go see it together and make it a little more curious?
Interests
I just started trying to make a crossword and it is way harder than I thought it would be. I like biking and a good cup of tea. And I *really* like sitting on top of mountains.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like short stories and I've been going to the symphony a lot lately. I like the movie Sleuth and The Sun Also Rises (even though Hemingway and his chauvinism pisses me off).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once knit a big red scarf in one sitting. And I climbed the Star Dune at Great Sand Dunes National Park in southern Colorado and let the wind at the top blow bubbles (see picture above!).
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm really into maps and have looked at a bunch, old and new, so could talk with you about them!
Also, though I don't know how to juggle TOO well, I could teach you the basics!
I'm really good at making french toast, so could show you my secret recipe...secret ingredient included!
I also know how to do a headstand. But I don't know how to do a cartwheel, so perhaps we can trade acrobatic skills?
I have wanted to make donuts for almost a decade but have never just gone into a kitchen and fried 'em up... perhaps we can do that together!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Hydrology knowledge (hydrowledge). Cheeriness! And giggles!
