I'm a fresh graduate and a newly-licensed geologist! I am currently teaching at my university, where I am able to engage with the country's youth and exchange not only geological concepts, but political and philosophical views as well!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think the best way to learn a country's culture while traveling is through the locals themselves! Staying with a local will give you so much more compared to a hotel room.

While I enjoy going on solo adventures, I also want to meet new people and create memories with them!

Interests

Being a geologist, I see the Earth quite differently. The spectacular mountains, lakes and forests pictured in numerous postcards and travel magazines all tell a story of the Earth. Besides breathtaking scenery, I also enjoy trying to piece together how such amazing landscapes came to be! It might sound geeky, but I assure you, Geology is so much more than just rocks, rocks, rocks. And I hope, through my stories and experience, you get to appreciate the Earth a little bit more!

Besides my field of expertise, I am also a rookie calligrapher! I haven't had much time to study recently, though, because I have become very busy with work. Still, if it is something that you wish to learn, I'll be able to teach you the basics!

Last but not the least, I am the quintessential dog lover! DOGS. ARE. LIFE. Unfortunately, my dog died recently because of an illness we desperately tried to heal. I haven't completely moved on (when a dog dies, you never really move on), but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy meeting new dogs! While I describe myself as a dog lover, I also like cats and animals, in general!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not much of a movie person, but the only kinds of films that will drag me out of my house and into the cinema are animated Japanese films, especially those from Studio Ghibli (I am Ghibli/Miyazaki trash omg I'm not ashamed!!)!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think one of the bravest things I've done at my age was to travel abroad alone! My parents are quite conservative and protective, so my solo travel was a far stretch from my comfort zone!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you a lot about the Earth! I'm a geologist after all, haha! I think what I can give you is a deeper appreciation and understanding about how the Earth works, so the next time you find yourself gaping at an amazing mountain landscape, you'll also remember that the beautiful sight before you took millions of years to create--and I think that's pretty amazing, too!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Philippine culture, and of course--food! And a bit on the scholastic side, I can try to bring a new appreciation for the Earth through my small rock collection!
