I now live in Madrid and travel back and forth for work. When I am in Madrid I will be happy to receive guests as there is a spare room in the apartment (There is one other house mate from Valencia).
For many years my main focus in life was music - playing drums. I spent most of my 20s in London playing in bands (apart from one year in Brazil). But then 6 years ago I decided to leave London and try out teaching English in different countries. Since then I had teaching jobs in Sicily, Istanbul and Colombia (3-5 months each) before I decided to try living in Spain for a longer period and I've been in Madrid since then.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I work one month off and one month on, in a rotational job. This means I have a lot of off time - either for travelling or staying in Madrid doing my music stuff. So while I am here in Madrid, I can receive guests, and while I'm travelling, it would be a good option to stay with people who live locally.

I like any music style e.g. funk, world music, pop, jazz, latin, rock... I play drums and music is important to me
Good movies... off the top of my head The Big Lebowski - it's pretty old but I watched it again recently and made me laugh a lot. Great movie
Books ... One I really liked when I was a teen was Midnight's Children, Salman Rushdie.. Nowadays I read more books about stuff to learn stuff rather than fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went to Cambodia and spent 2 months in an orphanage teaching English when I was 18.

I am a very experienced English teacher so I can help you out with your English. I am a drummer / percussionist so can appreciate music and happy to go out to find decent music events. I can cook a few simple dishes (Pasta a la Norma I learned in Sicily.. Malaysian coconut curry..)
