About Me

ABOUT ME

Most accurately, one might say I defy convention. I don't follow the rules, I don't pretend to be anything I'm not. I'm opinionated because I know what I want, how to get it, and what's right and wrong. I choose my own path. I build my own world. I've got my goals and I know how I'm going to achieve them. However, I don't need much to be happy, I try to live humbly, and I'm always willing to apologize when I realize my mistakes. Im not always right, but I'm not your average cup of tea, and I don't fit any stereotype I've ever heard. I'm not a hipster, a jock, a preppy, a hippie, emo, a geek, or anything else, although I have friends that are all of these.

Truth be told, however, I'm a pretty relaxed kinda guy by default. I work hard and I play hard and I don't like to mix the two.

I'm a huge dog lover of all kinds, even though I don't have one right now myself.

My goal at the end of 10 years or so is to own my own brewery, for which I already have a business plan and name for. I'm working jobs right now that will provide me experience with that, and I have a background in customer service. I'm a people-person and can (and usually do) talk to most anyone.

I also worked for 2 years in a wine store and also love wine, but craft beer remains my real passion.

I live life with passion and have a lot of close friends and family who I can talk to about anything and often do. I consider the people I'm close to the most important thing in my life and derive much of my own pleasure from pleasing others. I love to make people laugh and even considered getting into stand-up for a while. Some say I have an almost super-human capacity to forgive even through some serious adversity. I'd like to think what I've been through has helped me understand who I am and feel confident about my abilities.

I have a very different world-view than most people, and I love talking about the harder questions in life. However, I love just having fun too, and I find there's never really any lack of things to talk to people about. People fascinate me, which is one of the reasons I'm in customer service and love making new friends.

Interests

I love to just go with the flow because I can be happy doing almost anything. That being said, I love the outdoors, taking hikes, biking, picnicking, kayaking, and snowboarding. I absolutely love movies and I'm a big film buff, and I can have a good time in just about any situation.

I love to cook and I'm particularly good at making up new things without a recipe. I try to put a lot of care into what I eat, and I enjoy all kinds of food, though I usually make Italian, American, or Hispanic dishes.

I'm also very much into philosophy, and do a lot of thinking about pretty much everything. I love traveling and experiencing different cultures and ways of life and of course meeting different people along the way.

I love indie music of all kinds, but I often prefer more melodic sounds like Death Cab for Cutie, Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, Lana del Ray, the older Coldplay, Modest Mouse, and the Arcade Fire. I also love 70's and 90's Rock, Jazz, Blues, and even some crazier dub and electronica, but I like to say I just like what's good ;) I can listen to most anything though, and I feel I'm very good at feeling out what's good and what's not, both in music and in many other things out there (wine, beer, food, art, books, etc). If you have a taste for indie music, it's particularly awesome because most people just don't get into it. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I've ever done happened on the 4th of July in Panama City Beach, FL. A cousin of mine decided that day to go snooping around on the roof of his penthouse condo and seeing what there was to see... We met neighbors, had a few laughs, and eventually found something rather unusual... In one of the condos there was a hot tub, but if you know anything about hot tubs, they're usually all one piece and fairly large. Well, the complex we were in had only 2 notoriously small elevators and there's no way we could imagine anyone carrying that thing up 26 flights of stairs so it was a bit of a mystery as to how this thing ever got on the roof. Turns out, these people were out of town and had actually had it delivered by helicopter to their condo on the roof. Well, needless to say, we thought that was totally awesome and decided to have some fun in it. That night, we came back with a group of 4 or so girls and a bunch of booze and watch fireworks on the roof of one of the most exclusive condos in PCB and watched the fireworks with some very attractive new friends...

I'll sure as hell never forget that night...
