À propos de moi

I am a New Zealander finally exploring the wide world. I have family in Switzerland who I have been staying with, I have done a mini trip around Switzerland, and was in Germany for a month in May, and most recently again for a few magical music festivals.. My favourite thing about being in Europe has been being able to see all kinds of music that just would never come to NZ, marvelling at the beautiful historical architecture, and seeing the endless possibilities and ways of living here, meeting so many beautiful down to earth human beings is so inspiring. I'm really just following my nose travel-wise, but I've fallen a bit in love with Germany so I hope to move there one day...but who knows maybe I will feel the same about the next country I get to discover..

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I am couch surfing to meet new people and see their worlds from a locals perspective, make new friends, learn about different cultures and have as many new experiences as possible. When I return home to NZ in September, guests from everywhere, friends or new surfers, will always be welcome at my place, or if I end up in Germany, or who knows where...

Centres d'intérêt

I love music (maybe too much!), art and travelling ~ I love to cook as well, vegetarian and vegan food particularly - have been a vegetarian my whole life and am being more and more vegan, but I don't mind if you eat meat - to each their own :) I am a very environmentally conscious human being - so if you love McDonalds and drive a petrol guzzling 4wd I might have a bit of a friendly debate with you...

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

So I mentioned I love music a bit too much - particularly into New Wave/alternative 80s and 90s music ~ Suede, Bauhaus, Clan of Xymox, the Beatles, Black Sabbath, the Cure, Bowie, Echo & the Bunnymen, Einsturzende Neubaten, Jesus & Mary Chain, Sisters of Mercy, MBV, Placebo, REM, Cocteau Twins, Siouxsie, Sonic Youth, Velvet Underground ... All sorts of music I also like classical, and electronic/industrial. I am always looking for new artists so if you have suggestions please share them! I have discovered some amazing German bands while here - Deine Lakaien, Qntal, and Grausame Tochter, for example.
Movies I have loved: Edward Scissorhands, A Single Man, Norwegian Wood, Near Dark, The Hunger, From up on Poppy Hill (anything by Ghibli), Withnail and I, and anything with Jeremy Irons
Books I am more picky but I love to read classics, Sci Fi and fantasy mostly. Favourite authors include Neil Gaiman, George R R Martin, Joseph Conrad, William S Burroughs, and Raymond Carver (but this doesn't mean I have read their entire works, life is too full of wonders to keep my nose stuck in a book as much as I love them!).

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

This trip is my amazing thing! I hope to experience as many sights and sounds as possible - open to suggestions for unique and amazing experiences in your city please!
May 2015: - yesterday I went bouldering here in Heidelberg - my arms are so sore today! D:
- last week I went to Neuschwanstein castle and climbed up the super high cliff by the bridge, amazing views and a deathly drop! I would love to go bungy jumping one day..or sky diving! - I impulsively went to a metal gig in Geneva, that was pretty good, but no gig will ever top WGT in Leipzig Era Luna in Hildesheim ~ what a magical festival! I never thought i would enjoy camping so much, met so many fantastic humans and saw the most breathtaking musical performances. I want my life to be like this always....

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I love learning about other people's world views and travels - to get inspiration for my own travels especially! NZ is very far away from the rest of the world so for me Europe is a goldmine of beautiful people with so many fascinating ideas and ways of life.

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

I love to cook ~ Vegetarian/vegan foods particularly, but I am also happy to provide some wine (or beers if you prefer). I always clean up after myself as I am a tidy person by habit. Experiences so far in Europe, and information about Middle Earth/NZ :) (just please don't ask me about rugby, it's not a passion of mine..)
