About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Convert couch potatoes into couch surfers!

ABOUT ME

I am Mikko from Finland. Even if I am currently living in the most northern parts of the world, you shouldn't worry; I am not an iceman. On the contrary, I am a warmhearted guy and I feel like home anywhere on our beautiful globe.

And it never fails to fascinate me that people across the oceans can become friends like this. I like to keep my world small. It's in my pocket!

My view of the world is simple; Go out there and be happy. Happiness is what all of us are looking for. A selfish thing, perhaps, but that is how we are built. I tend to think that a person is truly happy when he knows that his actions and deeds are helping others. At least I know that it makes me happy. Probably you too! I have noticed that our world is built in a clever way so that you help yourself best by helping others.

I am a serial social entrepreneur. I have on-going projects in Bangladesh, Thailand, Nigeria and Finland. I don't travel as a tourist, but I meet people and visit places because of my projects. But how I got started with these is a long story. Life is very unpredictable indeed.

I consider myself a creative personality. I write a lot and I hope to make a living out of that some day. No hurry tho. A writer needs to live a life of a writer first!

Anyway, my home is yours, if you need a place to stay on your travels.

PHILOSOPHY

Couch Surfers actively change the world, whereas couch potatoes passively hold it still.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I spread the word to people I meet and who look like they could be interested in taking part. I also go to couchsurfing meetings whenever I am able to.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Once I spent few days in a tree-house in a small village called Trindade in southern Brazil. The tree-hut was owned by a local carpenter guy who was happy to host travelers under his roof.
