Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have always aimed to get know people all around the world, as I feel like one can gain so much even from one conversation with a person from another culture and meeting locals while traveling gives a whole new dimension to the destination. Before joining to couchsurfing, I have been participating to one-week exchanges in China and France via my school, both of them including both hosting and being hosted. I was also an exchange student in Texas for one year. I feel forever thankful for all those people for offering me a roof over my head and a glimpse of their cultures, and if I ever have change to "pay back" by hosting someone, I'm definitely into it! (I'm currently living my parents tho, and we don't have any extra rooms, but I would be excited to show people around my city!)

Interests

TRAVELING is something I almost live for, and I could go hours and hours about how it is amazing to soak into new cultures. I just love walking down the streets of new cities and observe people, architecture and nature there, taste new foods, being surrounded with foreign languages and, of course, meet new people.
SPORTS are something I'm also really into in. I used to be a competitive swimmer, and now I'm couching a swim group of my own. Besides swimming, I enjoy running and going to the gym. And whenever I have a change, I love trying all kinds of water sports, such as diving, canoeing and surfing or anything that takes place in the sea or coast.
Cooking is also something I really enjoy, and I try to eat as much plant-based food as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

Well to be honest, I don't really consume culture a lot. I pretty much like all the music with catchy rhythm and melody and lyrics that give me positive vibes. Even thought I find reading novels really nice, I rarely have time and patience for it, and thus there are no books I'd like to mention. I hardly ever watch TV, and when I do, it's in sleepover with my friends and we watch some shallow romantic comedy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have got so many great memories from my travels, especially from the Interrail trip this summer, but if I have to choose one, surfing in Hawaii was something that I had dreamed of my whole life!

Teach, Learn, Share

I would be super happy to tour people around my home town Helsinki, and there are lot of places I could show. Swimming is also one thing I could teach, as I work as a swim couch. However, I think that just simply having conversations with people with different backgrounds is one of the best things ever, and I'm totally into sharing Finnish culture that way!

I like cooking a lot, and I'm always happy to make a Finnish meal! :)
