About Me

I am currently cycling across Europe! Between April and end of July I will be going to London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Warsaw, Krakow, Bratislava, Vienna, Budapest, then flying to New Zealand (with the bike).

I am a postgraduate law student with a year to play with - so I have been working for the past half a year to go see the world by bicycle!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet new people whilst I am travelling! I am travelling to get out of my comfort zone, experience new things and learn from other people. I had a great experience on Warmshowers (the cycle-touring version of Couchsurfing) and think it's a great way of getting to know local people beyond the hostel.

Interests

Well my love of cycling is a given! There is something beautiful about the Mindfulness and peace achieved on a bicycle - that moment of balance between mind and body is hard to achieve, but amazing when you do.

Outside of that, I love home brewing! I have made various beers and wines in the past. It started out as a cheap way of drinking in University, but my interest in perfecting the recipes grew. The strangest drink I made was nettle beer and wine. The beer was good (like lemonade!), the wine was awful.

Music, Movies, and Books

Sometimes I will just pick up a random book in a bookshop and read it, I am very open! Currently I am reading the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. Some of my formative choices are the His Dark Materials trilogy (Phillip Pullman), Men Without Women (Hazuki Murakami), Shantaram and In Defence of Food by Michael Pollan - this last one changed the way I look at food forever!

My music taste is more indie rock/rock - love Two Door Cinema Club, Broken Bells, The Shins, LedZeppelin, Everything Everything, Phantogram, Santana, Queen - however if the mood is right I will love most music!

I don't watch many movies, but my top list include Inglorious Basterds, the Shawshank Redemption (obviously), Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter series (sorry to lump them together), Shrek for the memes, Little Miss Sunshine, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Hot Fuzz.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I ate a bug burger once.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will happily cook, do washing up etc - and provide booze is needed! All in for the community spirit
