My name is Owen, but sometimes I go by my street-name: Almonte boulevard.

I like hiking, sailing, foraging (particularly for edible mushrooms, see below), and spinning poi. I'm super easily amused -- I pride myself in my ability to enjoy doing just about anything, especially if it involves walking places. I have a similar relationship with food, and I am perpetually hungry or snacking.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I recently was awarded a fellowship to study how mushroom foraging practices differ between different countries/regions from 2018-2019. The project is 100% self-designed, and I am mainly trying to focus on the legal and cultural mechanisms that dictate how wild edible mushrooms are identified, distributed, and consumed. If you are a fellow mushroom hunter, eater, or even if you just think wild mushrooms look awesome and want to talk about it, please, don't hesitate to contact me! My hope is that I can use this website to meet new friends, mushroomers and not, during my travels.
