Im in Ireland for about 3 weeks on holiday, and before you ask, yes I am one of those Americans looking to strengthen my connection with my Irish heritage. This is born out of my lifelong love of Irish music, in particular the uilleann pipes, my past as an Irish step dancer, a desire to get back into Irish music, again especially the uilleann pipes which i why I've started learning tin whistle, and, because of my travels elsewhere, a desire to have a participate in culture that is not the consumerism that we pretend is culture in the USA. But while all of that is important, the reason I travel is to meet new and fascinating new friends around the globe, to see history with my own eyes, and to live the local life of the places I visit.
I also hate having my photo taken and thats why all the photos of me are from previous travels as its the only time that seems to happen.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel and especially to do it in such a way that I get an authentic experience. I found Couchsurfing and realized that it is a great way to meet and befriend people all over and get the low down on the best places to visit, eat at and more, which is exactly what I want when I travel

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A four day trek in the Sahara, with 2 now friends, 2 camels with our gear and some of the most incredible scenery in the world. Also sand bread.

I am a lover of history, especially up to the Medieval period, and most related subjects. I am also a lover of music from all over the world and a musician, playing mostly bass but a smattering of other things as well. In addition I practice Historical European Martial Arts with current emphasis on Fiore de Liberi, a late 14th centery master-of-arms whose manuscripts focus on grappling, rondel dagger, and longsword along with some others, and Scottish basket-hilted broadsword. Most importantly I love to share my passions with those around me and to have others share theirs with me as this is, after all, the way we find new passions and is the (in my opinion) best way to learn new things
