I like to think I'm a friendly, open-minded, optimistic and pretty uncomplicated person. You'll have to decide for yourself how much of that is wishful thinking.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For all my life my parents have been members in a Couchsurfing project organised by the ADFC (a German cycling club). We've had a lot of interesting guests from all over the world when I grew up. My favourite were a group of 15 Russians who camped in our garden. They didn't speak English, we didn't speak Russian, but it was fine. Now that I have a daughter of my own, I'd like her to grow up in that kind of spirit!

I love having guests, and I love the idea of couchsurfing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books -- Very broad tastes here, but the things I revert to the most are British 18th/19th century classics, Fantasy (From Lord of the Rings to Terry Pratchett), Kurt Tucholsky, and children's books and YA literature.

Movies/TV -- I'm nostalgic, which means that when I think about favorites, a lot of it is stuff I watched growing up: Raumpatrouille, BBC miniseries, Star Trek, Tati, old Erich Kästner movies, Jim Jarmusch, the Lord of the Rings...

Music -- Bach, The Velvet Underground, Rolling Stones

I love to cook, so you will definitely get a meal out of staying with us. When I have time, I also like to show people around.

When I'm travelling with my family: an adorable four-year-old! When I'm travelling alone: I'll probably have some German candy ;).
