ABOUT ME

Hello all. This is Özgür, a non-smoker, environmentalist recycling-freak, here. I am 28 years old and currently working at Middle East Technical University in Modern Languages Department as a full time EAP instructor in Ankara, Turkey. I am currently working on my PhD. Soon after I got my BA in TESL, I received a Fulbright Scholarship and headed to the United States, to the lovely and cold state of Minnesota where I got my Master’s Degree. I also worked as a teaching assistant (TA) for 4 academic semesters there and taught English 101.

I like reading, learning new languages, meeting new people, learning about other cultures, photography, generating conspiracy theories, history, archaeology, geography, politics, learning Greek, Greek mythology, and spending time on the Internet.

I am interested in the effects of culture on language teaching/learning, sociolinguistics, pragmatics, and tech-assisted language teaching.

I know a lot about the history of Turkey and its lands.I am interested in sociolinguistics, and how cultures affect language and the way we speak. I am open to learn everything about the places I visit.
