About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To leave this planet in a better ecological state.

ABOUT
I am Patrick. I have lived in Uist for 14 years now with my husband Matthew. We enjoy meeting and sharing our home with others.

We are very easy going and are interested in others peoples stories and experiences and sharing our own.

From experience of travelling I have found how useful it is to meet people with local knowledge of the area to point you in the right direction, enabling you to get the most out of your Outer Hebrides experience.

PHILOSOPHY

To spread love, respect and tolerance to others and to contribute where I can to my local community.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We live in a small two bedroom house, on the Isle of Benbecula within walking distance of the sea. We have a double room and a sofa bed available for people to stay in. The house is approximately 100m from the main road and the bus service route. The shop is about a 10 minute cycle or a 5 minute drive from the house.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have no couch surfing experience, but am keen to help people out with a place to stay. having lived in shared accommodation for many years, I am familiar with living with other and enjoy the experience.

Interests

We have so many interests! We are both keen gardeners and grow as much of our own food as we can. We keep duck and hens and hope to get some sheep too. We have a shared love of nature and take every opportunity to get out and experience it.

I have a broad taste in music and am very interested in Gaelic and Irish traditional music and singing.

I love to travel and do so whenever I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music....Traditional Gaelic and Irish music as mentioned above. Other music: Aretha Franklin, Curtis Mayfield, Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, Adele, Janis Joplin, Kinks, Mozart, Handel, Rachmaninov......so a wide variety for whatever mood.

I love Sci-fi movies but will watch most things.

Just finish reading 'Quiet Flows the Don', by Mikhail Aleksandrovich. Great read and always happy for new reading suggestions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kayaking up a tributary of the amazon river for a week.

Camping on the Isle of Skye, watching a pod of 120 white sided dolphin and thirty Minke whale feed in the Sound of Rassay as an adult White-tailed Sea eagle flies past!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a good knowledge of the flora and fauna on the islands and can show and teach people about the wildlife here and how it is intricately linked to the people and management of the crofting landscape.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Austria, Belize, Bolivia, Chile, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, Peru, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland
