About Me
Instagram: @palaemonn
Hi there! I’m Ahmet — a chemical engineer, nature lover, and enthusiastic traveler based in Istanbul (originally from Eskişehir, but the city has kept me since my university days!). You’ll often find me under the nickname “Palaemon,” a small sea god in Greek mythology — maybe we’ll talk more about that over a coffee or by the sea 🌊
💙 Who I Am
I’m someone who enjoys laughter, calm energy, spontaneous adventures, and good conversation. I love helping others — whether it’s a person, an animal, or the planet — and I believe in small acts that create meaningful ripples. One of my core mantras is: “How can I help?” It’s not only part of my volunteering spirit, but also the foundation of the technical service role I work in.
🌍 What Moves Me
Since 2011, I’ve been involved in youth projects and NGOs focused on protecting marine life and ecosystems. Some of my most cherished moments come from volunteering on coastal clean-ups, especially with children who had never seen the sea before. That joy is hard to describe!
Thanks to Erasmus and other exchange programs, I lived in Germany and Italy — Italy was my first trip abroad and also my Couchsurfing debut back in 2013. After overcoming the language barrier (eventually!), I caught the travel bug and… never stopped!
🎯 Travel Goal
I’m on a mission to see 35 countries before turning 35. I’ve reached 25 so far, and I’m slowly catching up on the ones I missed during the pandemic.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Why I Couchsurf
I see myself as an Earthling first — nationality aside. Couchsurfing, for me, isn’t just a place to crash. It’s a way to share moments, thoughts, food, silence, stories… whatever feels natural. I believe in connection, not perfection.
Let’s see if the world makes our paths cross!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music Taste: Mostly K-pop, Always Passionate
While I enjoy many styles of music, K-pop is my biggest obsession. The rhythm, the energy, the choreography — it all just clicks with me. I also love Latin Pop for dancing, and my playlists swing from Bollywood soundtracks to Linkin Park depending on my mood.
Some favorites: Blackpink, BTS, EXO, Mabel Matiz, Shakira, Maluma, Sam Smith, Adele, Tiësto, Daddy Yankee.

🎬 Movie & Series Vibes
Let’s get this out first — I’m a total Potterhead. I’m dreaming of visiting all the Harry Potter museums around the world someday.
A few other titles that shaped or moved me:
• Glee (helped me find myself)
• Friends (I’m the unofficial 7th member)
• A Moment to Remember, Grey’s Anatomy, Elite, Please Like Me, Sex Education, The Witcher…

📚 What I Read
I used to be a big fantasy reader (Twilight, House of Night, etc.), but lately I’ve turned to philosophy, psychology, and personal development. During my military service, I had a lot of time for reflection — and managed to read 35 books in 5 months.
