About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to keep my mind open to new experiences and to meet new folks from all around the world
ABOUT ME
I was born in Panama in 1949 because my dad was with the US State Department at that time. We came to California in 1952 and I have lived here ever since. At the age of 14 , my family and spent several months in Central America. As an adult, I have traveled to various places in Latin America and Asia. I am open to all kinds of new experiences and I am interested in meeting people from all over the world.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe strongly in the Golden Rule and Karma... People have been really nice to me in my life, and perhaps Couch Surfing is a way of "paying it forward" In a way , it's kind of a selfish philosophy
because good acts will eventually come back to you in kind.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am not quite ready to offer up a couch yet, but I would like to meet couch surfers for a coffee or drinks and swap travel stories.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am a newbie to this Website but I have had many experiences that are similar to couchsurfing.. One that sticks out in my mind was Christmas Day 1993 in a little village in Sarawak, Malaysia. I was with a former student of mine and his wife and I was invited into the homes of complete strangers to eat and drink with them.. It was one of the most touching experiences of my life.
Interests
cross-country and downhill skiing, traveling(of course!), going to live venues to hear jazz and Latin music, vegging out and being a couch potato!

Music, Movies, and Books
Some of the movies I have really liked are: "The Gods Must Be Crazy", "Elephant Man" and "The Killing Fields" With respect to music, I love jazz, classic rock, country, Latin (boleros, cumbias, merengues) And as far as books go, I have enjoyed "House on Mango Street", "Animal Farm" and "Of Mice and Men"
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing thing I have experienced has been the kindness of strangers as I have traveled. I have also tandem sky-dived on two different occasions. It was quite an adrenaline rush.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to take people snow skiing (downhill and crosscountry) and teach them what I can. (I am not the greatest skiier in the world but I love it.) If people are traveling through Fresno, I can also show them around and give them some advice. I would like to learn as much as I can about the countries and cultures of the couch surfers I come in contact with.
Countries I’ve Visited
Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Thailand, Venezuela
