Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I wouldn't mind trying couch surfing eventually, but that would require me having vacation time, a rare luxury in the US. In the meantime, I'll try to host and hang out at CS events.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Before this website existed, my couchsurfing experience was limited to crashing on the floor of my friend's apartment, sleeping on my brother's couch, making myself home on my sister's flakati rug and being approached by a host family at the Vienna airport in Austria and invited to rent out their spare apartment. These options are great when you are either broke, or you really want to meet some local people and experience a hint of their life from their perspective.

Interests

I like to swim laps at the pool, ride my road bicycle, hike local trails, spend time with my dog, take photos, attend local events (food festivals, farmers' markets, museum exhibits, etc.).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I would like to go back to Russia to see the Hermitage Museum again. I was amazed at the number of beautiful treasures hidden there. New Zealand has some breathtaking scenery. I generally like to explore new countries I haven't been to, but I'm pretty sure I will visit NZ again, especially to explore the south island. I grew up in the Middle East, so it will always have a special place in my heart. The food is comforting to me and the souks have such wonderful handicrafts, that I will always be drawn to these countries.
