About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To invent the perfect breakfast sandwich

ABOUT ME

I am the second eldest in a large family. Consumed with wanderlust at a young age, I tried to repress these feeling and do what is "normal". I spent 3 years as a stockbroker before realizing that I would rather shoot myself than spend another year doing something I didn't love. Since the I've continued to travel, and am in the process of figuring out exactly what life has in store.

I consider myself a fairly laid back and easy to get along with guy. Funny, irrevent, occasionally stupid, and generally willing to try new things or test the status quo. For me, truth is something to be discovered, not taken from a book.

PHILOSOPHY

"Somebody told me it couldn't be done,
and I with a chuckle replied:
Well maybe it can't, but I'll be the one,
Who wouldn't say so till I've tried"
-poet forgotten by me unfortunately

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am, and always have been, a great believer in meeting people and experiencing new cultures. I have worked with many people from many countries over the years. I currently am in the position of seeking couches, but I look forward to offering couches to many travelers in the years to come!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was staying at a friends house in Dublin, and I randomly got invited to go out shooting in the country-side. I had never held a gun, let alone a proper bird-shooting shotgun. I spent the morning with a bunch of Irish I had only met the night before shooting at hundreds of clay pigeons and nursing some lovely hangovers. I can't think of a more random, and yet perfect way to spend a day when you are traveling. I felt like a proper Irish gentlemen :)

Interests

Biking, traveling (duh!), writing, running, cooking and experimenting, video games, photography, coastal things in general (I grew up on the ocean and find it a source of endless fascination and satisfaction)

Music, Movies, and Books

movies: comedy, history, mobster movies and epics
Music: embarrassingly, I generally listen to whatever's on the radio. Not too fond of rap or country though
books: classic literature, fantasy books, military history, comedy, horror genre (the good and the trashy)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bombed out villages in Serbia on my way to Dubrovnik from Bulgaria. The mountains of Serbia are beautiful in a surreal way. it is the most stunning mountain scenery I had ever seen, filled with steep cliffs filled with shockingly deep colors. This was in contrast to the hundreds of destroyed homes (by fire and bomb) that I passed on the road. I kept wondering how could people in such a beautiful place hate each other so much?

Teach, Learn, Share

If a jar is very hard to open, giving a hard, open palmed slap on the bottom while holding the jar upside down will usually loosen it up :)
