About Me
I love meeting fun-loving people who are curious about the world.
I once moved to a new continent, in a place where I didn't speak the language to start a business I knew nothing about. Also, I tried to make my own samosas once. One of these two succeeded.
I work hard 💻 so I can 🛫 and have crazy adventures 🗻🎎🗾🤸♂️. Ideally I 🎸and 🖌️but mostly end up binging 🎬.
I also 🏄♂️🏂 so I don't feel guilty when I 🍨.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I first went to Lima I met an amazing lady. I was staying at her place but my flight was delayed and I got in at around 2AM. I texted her and apologized profusely but she sent a text back with her usual positivity, "Don't worry about it, I'm still working :)" Turns out she managed two rentals, had a 14 year old kid and was an award winning ceramic artist. The beautiful paintings at her place was done all by her. I asked how she learned how to paint. She replied, "I just felt like it, I just wanted to express myself." That first night we had drinks with all her tenants, and had my first Pisco Sour experience. Over the course of my stay I taught her how to play the guitar a little, and she taught me how to make ceramics. We went to the different market places, to her art gallery opening, the largest ceramics fair in Lima and just had a blast together.
I befriended other people that first night, one of whom was an ex-intelligence officer who worked in human trafficking. Planned and went on raids. He had a property in Terapoto where he went on expeditions in the jungle to hunt for cocoa. They had spiders the size of your hand that would eat bats. But being in the jungle was the most serene and profound spiritual experience he's had. This made me buy a plane ticket over there. But that's another story...
As they say, "Life is the art of encounters". This is why I'm on couchsurfing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I co-founded a non profit that teaches design and coding to people who don't have the privilege of being exposed to these things or that environment. Entrepreneurship is creative destruction. You create something, usually to solve a problem of yours that many other people face and you transform yourself in profound ways. There was a student who was a shy grocery assistant at the beginning and by the end of it he pitched a smart watch app infront of 300 people with such gusto and swagger that it made me feel like a proud papa :)
That, and I made one of the best samosas ever with deep fried naan bread.
