About Me

Going on a longer Latin-America trip, probably from September 2023 to January 2024 ✈️
planning to stop in Bolivia 🇧🇴, Perú 🇵🇪, Colombia 🇨🇴, and México 🇲🇽. Looking forward to meeting a lot of wonderful people on the way!

Also, moving to Taiwan 🇹🇼 after that to learn some Chinese! Please help me with that if you speak Chinese 😅
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I like being straight forward, easy, nice, and helpful. I just speak out what's on my mind, really like to get beyond the small-talk relatively quickly and dive into deeper conversations.

Oh, and I really love science, technology, programming and any related topic. I can be a bit of a workaholic in that field sometimes. I'm also quite interested in a lot of how-to-live-happily stuff from ancient philosophies, spiritual traditions, and modern psychology. Love cultural exchange and learning languages, teach me yours!
Also used to be the very interested in making music (not so much anymore unfortunately, not enough time for everything interesting). I'd always try to play a little tune on any instrument I can get in my hands.
And I always try to learn as much as possible: nature, culture, history, philosophy, people, what ever, I wanna know it.
Already looking forward to something you want to teach me :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Some time ago my roommate started surfing and hosting and it was pretty amazing listening to his experiences and having strangers staying with us every now and then. New people, new stories, new friendships. Having locals showing you the place you're traveling at or being that local is just so much fun and I love to do it.
But the best thing is actually meeting kinds of people one would usually not look out for; people from very different backgrounds with very different experiences. It's easy to accidentally get stuck in your own comfort bubble with people quite alike...but couch surfing exposes you to the rest of the world again :D
I've met so many nice people on here and had so many great experiences, I really love it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Shit, I don't know, there's way too much. I could write a novel here.
Regarding music, I like to listen to pretty much everything. And I'd love if you could introduce me to whatever traditional music you know from your home region. I'd suggest I tell you the rest in person.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recapturing my car from a horde of like 25 angry monkeys in the mountains of southern Taiwan. They claimed it their property after they coated it entirely in their feces. With the help of a bullwhip-swinging grandpa and the clicking sound of the central locking, I managed to escape with their mess following me in the rear mirror until I reached the next car wash.

Another thing, not really amazing but funny, walking some steps up towards the snowy Thorong La pass in underwear. But actually making a 1000 m ascent and making it from the base camp over the pass in one day is maybe an amazing thing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think I'd really like to learn anything you wanna teach me, as long as it's sold in a funny way.
I can give you a city tour around Aachen or Cologne if you like.
I could jam with you or teach you a bit of guitar; on a beginner level though, I'm quite out of practice, but I still love it.

I enjoy talking about programming, science, and engineering, so if you're not from such a background and you're wondering how your everyday gadgets or whatever stuff works, I will try to come up with comprehensible explanations. And of course, I'd love to hear such explanations from your field of expertise as well. Directing such conversations in a philosophical direction is pretty cool too. Same goes for anything regarding...well, living a good life, the mind and body, philosophical or spiritual wisdom, psychology, the meaning of life, love, aliens, scify, comedy, the human condition, and all the silly paradoxes in it.

If you're staying at my place, I will try to answer all questions you have about the region and I'm quite good at improvised cooking.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I guess all the stuff I mentioned above already. I can also bring some beers if you like that :)
