About Me
Current (very loose) plan is South Korea - Taiwan - Philippines - all of SE Asia. Probably until 09/26
Short version of me: Don't know what to do with my life, but I do know that I love travelling so that's what I'm gonna do until I figure out what else to do. ;)
My main goal when it comes to travelling is not to visit any place as a tourist, but to experience the culture as best as possible; get an idea of what it's like to be a local. I've found the best way to do so is getting a job in the country I'm travelling to, volunteering where possible, and staying with locals on couchsurfing! This way, I can meet people who live in the area and get to know the culture and language best :) This is also why I tend to stay in countries for a long time-longer than most travellers!

Here's a brief summary of my life if you care to read it all:
After high school I spent a year abroad in Costa Rica as an exchange student. When I got back, I started university, where I was studying theatre, but decided I was not ready to embark on studies that would lead me straight into a career (or lack thereof). So I quit my studies, worked hard, saved enough money, and then left for southeast Africa, where I spent 6 months exploring, doing some volunteer work but mostly unplanned backpacking.
When my money ran out, I went back to QC to save more money before heading out to Australia for my first working holiday visa (WHV), where I spent a wonderful 2 years partly working odd jobs and exploring as much of the outback as possible.
I then went directly from Australia next door to New Zealand on my second WHV, where I spent 2.5 years working a few ski seasons, volunteering on different farms, hiking and hitchhiking all over the place, and meeting incredible people. When Covid began, I stayed in NZ, but eventually had to get back to Canada as travelling was no longer an option back then.
Back in Canada, not by choice, I was excited for the pandemic to blow over a bit so that I could head back out travelling ASAP, but then I had a few injuries which forced me to stay longer and heal. Most of this time was spent living and making incredible memories in the town of Revelstoke, BC. Initially I felt a bit stuck, but I've come to really appreciate my years there, as for once in my life, I became part of a community that I truly loved and cherished, and vice versa. I'll definitely have to go back and visit, to keep and treasure those friendships, but for now I'm still figuring out what to do with life.
So, after many years experiencing a sedentary lifestyle, it was time to hit the road again. Thus came my third WHV destination; Japan, where I've just spent a year, partially working over the ski season, but mostly travelling around. I actually ended up getting a van there and living in it for 6 months.

This brings us to the present. I figured after Japan, being so close to many Asian countries, I should spend some time exploring this part of the world. I actually haven't properly "backpacked" since 2015(!!) back in Africa, which actually feels wild to me. I've been doing these working holiday visas, which is such a different type of travelling. Anyway, I typically don't like to have time constraints or plan much, but I still want to do more WHVs, and these are only given to a specific age group. Now that I'm older, I'm getting close to the age limit, so I want to be a bit strategic. I'm giving myself a year for southeast Asia, and then will have to pick the next WHV, probably either Chile or somewhere in Europe :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I use couchsurfing as a means to meet new and interesting people, as I'm tired of only having myself as company haha. Of course it's a plus to have a place to stay, but I'd rather stay with you if we can hang out. Not that you have to show me around or anything, in fact I can take care of myself if necessary haha but I use this website to meet people and spend time with them, not just for a place to stay the night :)
I have also discovered the priceless experiences gained from staying with locals, which have provided me with unforgettable moments that I will forever treasure. Money can't buy that! I look forward to the day that I can host others and return the favour. For now, I try to do so by helping others in any way I can!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music- I guess everything except most Country and Heavy Metal, screaming type. Bands I like: Macklemore, Imagine Dragons, The Beatles, Queen, Lindsey Stirling, TwentyOne Pilots, Half Moon Run..... soo many more. I prefer acoustic based music.
Movies/TV: For the few times I do watch movies, I mostly like the Sci-Fi type, Comedies. I do love a few television series though; Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, etc.
Books: I have always been a huge book nerd. I love fantasy and sci-fi, fiction of course :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Left everything I knew behind to spend 6 months "on my own" in southeast Africa.
Sailed overseas from New Zealand to Fiji
Lived in a van for 6 months in Japan and surviving a ridiculously hot summer
Teach, Learn, Share
I am willing to teach anything I know to anyone who asks nicely. Everyday has something to teach me and I try to soak it all in. And if you want me to, I am more than willing to share. This includes the languages I know, sushi-making, anything!
What I Can Share with Hosts
My language skills- help you with French, English, Spanish; I am fluent in all 3.
I can teach you how to make sushi.
I can share my few travel experiences with you.
I love baking and would love to make you a cake or cupcakes or muffins or cookies, providing you have the utilities in your house.
My cooking skills! I'm not great, but happy to cook for you or with you, just don't ask for "Canadian" food because that doesn't really exist haha.
What else? Anything that I have to share, that you want me to share?
Gardening/cleaning/taking care of animals.
I am more than willing to spend as much time as you'd like with you, because that's what I like to do with couchsurfing-meet new people and spend time with them.
