Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I wish I could share my house with somebody, but for the moment it will be quite difficult ad I will travel a lot for business. Nevertheless, if you are interested in staying at me, write me and I tell you if I can host you or if I'm abroad. Meanwhile, I will read forums in order to check if I can do something for people travelling close to me.

Before knowing CS, I created a forum with some friends from Italy and Switzerland and we are going on with somebody very similar to CS. I think there could be a contact between these experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed many times, even if I discovered this word and site only in April 2007. I went all over Great Britain, visiting friends and relatives of friends of mine and even a customer of my father! Last summer I want to Portugal, visiting a friend known because I sold him through the net some magazines. I hosted for some weeks a Spanish friend who wanted to visit Italy. These are only some samples of my couchsurfing abroad or with foreign people; in Italy I did it many times!
Last autumn I opened a forum in order to let people meet. The spirit is quite similar to couchsurfing. In 6 months I met some 50 people from Italy and Switzerland, and invited some of them at my house.
And more...

Interests

I like to stay with other people and do anythig than give the opportunity to know each other. I think age is only something on documents and no more. I like to stay with children (I have 8 nephews) and with elderly and anybody whose age is inside this range.
Then I like to stay outdoor. I don't know exact definition neither in Italian (my own language), so I try to explain. I like nature and any activity that let me observe it. Walking, riding, snorkeling, swimming, flying (well, my paraglider licence now is expired!) and anything more. But all of them in a not-competitive way. And even in a simple way, with no extreme technics and so on. I like simple things.
I can stay alone as well: in such cases I like motor racing (watch and read about, I have only driven a kart a couple of times) and computers, but this only when I have nothing to do with anybody else.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like reading about history, both about famous and unfamous events and situation. I like music, both classical and pop/rock. I don't like rap. I listen to the radio, so I don't know singers, expecially foreign one, because radio plays songs without announcing them.
Movies: I like commedy, movies about historical events and cartoons.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I used to fly with paraglider, now I can't because the licence is expired and I have no more time for flying. But if you want, I can arrange a flight with somebody licensed for such things (unfortunately only paying, but of course not me!).
I walked on Camino de Santiago in Spain, where I learnt many things about me and about other people. In few words: people is much simpler then we usually think!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach the contact with nature: have you ever slept at Stars Hotel? Free of charge, no reservation needed, it provides a nice bed with a grass carpet (and sometimes some rocks), some music provided by crickets, nightingales or some more animal, accordig to location and season (once even a wild pig!), with moon and/or stars watching over you... maybe even an unwanted shower...
I have a very nice place half an hour walking from my house door for this.
Nothing academic (I wish, but I can't), but I'm talking about sensations.
Learn? Anything interesting I find on my way. Maybe even something so strange than I can't imagine now.
Share? Sometimes it's not possible to sleep at Stars Hotel. For such cases I have a Maggiolina, a tent for 2 persons to be mounted on the roof of my car. I have never tried (I bought recently), but I think it should be a great idea for wondfering somewhere in Italy and/or Europe!
