About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn about new cultures - spread social conscience

ABOUT ME

Traveler, friendly, interested in meeting people.

PHILOSOPHY

Do good in the world each day
Be the person your dog thinks you are
I am open to most things in life - as long as you aren't maming animals or hurting people - enjoy life. I don't judge :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted travelers for nearly 20 years. I travel worldwide and often have stayed in homestays.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I find it much more fun to be immersed than stay in a hotel ... after all meeting people is the main reason to travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all types of music. I play the piano, saxophone and harp - love blues, jazz, rock, classical ... I was even into punk in the days. (egads - am I that old ha ha) I like to read anything that makes me go "hmmm" and think. Love movies that make me discuss the meaning later!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

70 countries and counting.
Worked as a travel agent, tour director, writer, photographer ...
Most amazing thing I've ever seen?
70 cars stop when a duck and ducklings wanted to cross a road. I got out of my car to direct traffic and the ones who helped me were the least expected - grizzled truckers, street gang, harried businessman, - it just demonstrated that you can't judge people from stereotypes.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to host because I quite enjoy having my guests meet local people, attend an event and mix -
I had a young lady from overseas (withheld) who was stranded at Christmas - I took her in. I made her some mittens and brought her to meet my family, my Girl Scouts loved her and she saw her first snow. She wrote me afterwards that her uncle said to hate Americans - but she was able to tell him that she was treated fairly and not to judge. I feel like I'm helping break barriers and lessen hate by hosting and traveling ... love it.
